Routine mammogram a couple of weeks ago, and already recovering in hospital after the operation.

I agree it isn't anything we all need to know but you wouldn't wish it on your worse enemy.

Not sure what your point is. Is it a criticism of 'queue jumping' for treatment? I know that if my wife was diagnosed and we could afford a quick private option then we would take it.
Also, when was her mammogram? I can only see it reported as 'recent', not a 'couple of weeks ago'.
The main focus of the news reports seems to be to raise awareness of the importance of mammograms. Which can only be a good thing.

As Rofesleg said it was to raise awareness and due to you whinging about someone getting cancer it seems to be doing the trick.
