I wouldn't be surprised. This may have changed but 3 years back it was second in the list of cities for the amount of Michelin stars per head of population (behind Kyoto).Often fancied San Sebastien, wasn't the food one of the main reasons Moyes took the Sociedad job?
Been on my list of places I'd like to visit for a while but every time I start looking to book a mini break somewhere and consider it, the multi flight travelling puts me off. Is fly/drive the answer?Shame its just such a pig to get to.
Never mind maybe next year - you will enjoy it more when everything opens up and travel is allowed!Well based on comments this weekend about international travel I don't think this will be happening. I think the best I might get is doing my own selection of Pintxos and serving them in various locations round the house and garden with a different glass of vino in each!
Yeah, flying to either Bilbao or biarritz and you can drive there. I took the bus from Bilbao though and it was really good. Ran by the British too. National express own the bus companyBeen on my list of places I'd like to visit for a while but every time I start looking to book a mini break somewhere and consider it, the multi flight travelling puts me off. Speaking of German WWII planes. if you're in the Area go to Guernica. It's the ancient Basque capital and a gorgeous little town with an important tree (long story)Never been but its known as a classy resort with the Spanish. The climate is cooler in the Summer than the Meditterrean coast and cool is preferable in July/August in Spain.
The scenes in the Battle of Britain film (1969) where the Germans are eating in white jackets and then viewing their invasion boats was filmed in San Sebastian (supposed to be Calais area in the film). Quite a bit of the film was made in Spain because of the better weather, Franco subsidies, and the fact that some of German WW2 planes in the film were still in the Spanish Air force and flown by Spanish Civil War trained (Franco) pilots.
