Sam Cosgrove signing for Brum

It sounds like Cosgrove is off to sign for Karanka at Brum. He's been in talks since yesterday. It also says they are going to offer 2mil for Kevin Nesbit at Hibs (think Sunderland wanted him)

2 new forwards and one being a target man could add to Juke speculation.

We've been linked with Cosgrove for ages but I've heard 'he at times doesn't even look like a footballer' 😂

Interesting to see how he does and what transfer merry go round it triggers.

Interesting, Juke definitely surplus to requirements and on for his second Karanka punting in fairly short order.............

Did Forest sign that old man? Wonder if Grabban is available?

I don’t want to disrespect the Juke, he always seemed a honest hardworking player when I saw him play - but I just don’t see how his signing would take us forward.
Just think it's a short term fix for a problem area. If we continue with the keeper lumping it forward everytime then we need a forward who can head a ball and bring in others. I imagine Juke is more 'capable` than what we have.

I've always said I can't believe we bought Akpom to play the role he's been playing? We play a 'style' that needs a big lad up top. It may also improve goals from setplays.

If we get him on loan then I don't see it as an issue. It would bring in a plan B and different to what we have. That said I wouldn't really want to pay anything as 32 in the summer and 6 months left on his contract.

I doubt he can be worse than our current first choice No9 who just jumps into CBs and gives away free kicks when trying to head a ball😒

Yes a lot of what you say is true I guess, it just doesn’t fill me with excitement. Any way needs must and all that - we may not get anyone in so I guess any more players through the door is a bonus.

Juke is absolute gash, he was worse than Britt at one on one. He was a part of a very bleak era. Warnock isn’t interested. BL just links any former player. It’s tedious and boring.

I don't think anyone is saying he's great, a finisher or good at one-on-ones, most are saying he's limited. But if we are pumping the ball 50 yards vaguely towards a central striker he's better suited to that than any of our other three central striker, if it's a loan till the end of the season it is low risk too.

But looks like Bolasie is our new target man, so fingers crossed!

Risky signing imo. Player missed 3 months this season due injury so that's risky move but Aberdeen done very well to get the fees they wanted.

We've been linked with Cosgrove as well for last 3 years. Better options out there anyway.

Some pretty harsh views on Juke here. He's not a goalscorer, never has been and his finishing is probably worse than Britt's, that's fair enough to point out I think.

However he rarely "goes missing" he wins a lot of headers and is really strong on the ball. It sticks. He would add something because none of our current strikers are particularly good at holding it up and it causes us problems at times. Also wouldn't hurt to have him in the box for set pieces.

He's not going to particularly excite anyone and certainly isn't a long term solution by any stretch. But if we could get him on loan or for a few hundred thousand, he wouldn't be a terrible signing at this point.

Juke is better in the air than any of our current lot. He's never gonna be great one on one but most target men ain't.

I don't think you can use an argument of 'he's not a natural finisher'. Who is who we can sign? . I can't think of many target men who are natural finishers unless we can get Viduka back😂

We probably have 1mil at best to spend (arguably less). It's pipe dreams thinking we will pay Gayles 50k a week or some of the other names that get thrown around.

When we played Birmingham at home last season, Juke was causing us all kinds of problems (apart from scoring) and looked a cut above anything we had up front.

I have relatives who live in Peterhead who are big Aberdeen fans and the verdict in cosgrove is that he is a duffer. Bullet dodged if he does to Birmingham.

Some short memories. The best thing you could say about Juke is he tries hard.
After 35 mins of Akpom I'd take that. He offered nothing and never won a header. I question why we keep lumping it forward.

We broke 2 on 2 and decided to run behind Howson😂

If we'd signed Cosgrove, this forum would be full of posts about our never learning not to sign SPL players.

Just a bit of Fomo kicking in, as it always does when another team does a deal.
