Salou

Yes we did Siesta bus also. Seem to remember water being terrible at the time. They were pumping sea water into the showers. You had a shower and when you dried you had white salt patches all over you. Everyone got the runs.

Went last year for the first time as well.

There's a brilliant magic show on at a place called House of Illusion. I'd definitely recommend that as something to do. You get a meal and unlimited drinks as well, it usually sells out so you'd have to book in advance.

Visit Portaventure as well, can do a couple days there easily.

Another one for the Siesta bus back in 1987 :) I've been back a couple of times since and I think it's a great resort. Portaventura theme park is the obvious attraction but we also did a day trip to Barcelona, including a tour of the Nou Camp stadium (y)

Beverley Travel in 1988, great place but horrendous bus journey.

Tramps nightclub was the place to be, I think the other big nightclub was called Chaplins.

Girls from the campsite were always proper naughty and desperate for a guy staying in an apartment so they could get a proper bed to sleep on.

Also did the siesta bus when I was a bairn it must be a thing! Can’t remember anything about the holiday except getting a bus to Barcelona one day and driving down a crazy winding road

Didn't they also do a Nou Camp trip too where you could have a photograph taken with a trophy?

Quite a novel thing to do being a Hull City fan.

Escort travel, great holiday but a horrendous journey, @rse has just about recovered from the Rockford Files. It was the first place I heard Blue Monday, all the clubs were playing it. reckon It’s changed a bit since then.
Me and my mate went out for a night out and a bloke who was on his honeymoon wanted to join us, which we thought odd. He was a total fooking maniac, so we managed to give him the slip. He wandered back to the campsite and found his wife in bed with the bus driver. All hell had broke out by the time we got back 😂😂

A day trip to the Abbey of Monserrat is highly recommended. Even if you are not that bothered about Abbeys, the views from the top of the mountain are really great, and the liqueurs made there are worth trying, plus you get to ride a funicular railway up. When we were there a few years ago, you could get a day coach trip for a reasonable amount.

Did the Siesta bus in 1982. The worst holiday of my life.

The campsite had dysentery. I've never before had to navigate pools of liquid **** to make it to toilet cubicles covered in the stuff.
Was also during the World Cup - we got knocked out while we were there - and just after the Falklands War. The Spaniards were very hostile while we there, in bars and clubs.

I'm sure the place has its charms and that is a long time ago.

I live just outside of Salou in Cap Salou. There is even one BORO pub in town! Not sure why people are commenting on experiences from 20 to 40 years ago, completely irrelevant. These days Salou is geared up mainly for families and centered around the Port Aventura theme Park (which used to be part of Universal Studios). Let me know what questions you (OP) may have?

Had three days there last year before going to Zaragossa. Thought it was ok really. Don't remember it being that expensive compared to other parts of Spain.

Are you going on the Siesta bus? 😉

A gang of us went in the 80’s on the Siesta
and it’s got to be one of the worst journeys ever. Not too bad going with all your excitement but coming back seemed to take an age.

Salou was a beautiful place but I am sure it’s changed since 1982.
Ha! me too, I went with my mates on 18-30s in 1982, the Siesta coach broke down at dover with a snapped brake cable, waited to fix it for over 4 hrs, then one of the divers hit an over head stanchion on the French/Spanish border control, smashing the front window out :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Took us over 2 days to get to Salou.

I don't think they had many trophies back then!!! I remember going to the nou camp but we literally got taken inside so we could go "ooo it's big" then buses off to a fountain...
