Safe

I think you are right. For us to get relegated:

- We will have to lose the last 2 POSSIBLE
- Stoke will need a point out of Bristol, Brentford or Forest POSSIBLE
- Birmingham need 2 points out of Charlton Preston and Derby POSSIBLE
- Huddersfield need 3 points out of West Brom and Millwall POSSIBLE BUT UNLIKELY
- Charlton need 4 points out of Birmingham, Wigan, Leeds VERY UNLIKELY
- Hull need 6 points out of Luton and Cardiff (IMPOSSIBLE) OR Luton need to beat Hull and Blackburn (POSSIBLE)

I think we will be mathematically safe by Saturday evening, even if we lose, with Barnsley, Hull and Huddersfield/Luton dropping. This is the most likely set of results that could relegate us:

Boro 0-1 Cardiff
Bristol C 1-1 Stoke
Birmingham 0-1 Charlton
Millwall 0-1 Huddersfield
Hull 0-1 Luton

Sheff Wed 1-0 Boro
Birmingham 1-0 Preston
Charlton 1-1 Wigan
Luton 1-0 Blackburn
Wigan 1-0 Fulham

Personally, I see at least 3 of those results not happening.

That makes me feel worse. I thought we were safe but those results all look viable. 😕

If Wigan don’t beat Charlton they can’t finish more than 11 points above us...? So that would put them, Hull and likely Barnsley below us...?

We could be safe by THURSDAY NIGHT!
Providing the Wigan 12 point punishment is upheld then, if Charlton lose to Brum tomorrow night and Barnsley lose to Leeds Thursday night then we are safe!

Yup, my bad, so that means if Charlton don't beat Birmingham tomorrow, either Charlton or Wigan must finish beneath us!

We could be mathematically safe before we play on Saturday, with the following two results:

Wed: Birmingham beat Charlton
Thu: Leeds beat Barnsley

That would mean:
- Barnsley would definitely finish below us.
- Charlton and/or Wigan will finish below us
- Hull and/or Luton will finish below us

ah, Samba beat me to it, by the time I grabbed a coffee then worked it out, then got this blooming site to actually accept my post

Charlton need to lose to Brum. A draw means they could still get to 50 by beating Leeds away last match. Wigan can get to 51 by beating Charlton and Fulham. (y)
