Roy Chubby Brown petition

People who would still like to see his variety of comedy should still be able to if they do wish

Not being able to because of others of the entire problem

They can see "his variety of comedy" just not in the theatres listed, who have chosen not to put him on for commercial reasons one suspects.

The same way I can't see my favourite experimental jazz funk band at Wembley stadium.

I've never understood the mentality. It would be like going to a gig by a band whose music you really disliked, and then moaning because you didn't enjoy it. If people want to go, let them. You don't have to go.

No one is stopping people from going to see Chubby Brown, that's not even what the petition is about.

It's about a commercial organisation choosing not to host his shows because they dont think that it aligns with the businesses values. Unless you think that private businesses should be made to put on certain acts against their wishes ?

If people find that kind of thing funny, then maybe, I suppose (although there is a line somewhere, where exactly that line is, is another debate).

But theatres also have the right not to have racist acts performing at their venues if they don't want to.

I suppose the reason for the debate is the way its presented. If the theatres just didn't put him on it wouldn't be a big deal, but its the way they seem to book him, then get a load of backlash, then cancel his shows and make out like its all about 'their values' (it isn't really, they just don't want to harm their brand once they've realised some people take issue with it).

If they bothered to watch some of his stuff before booking him maybe they could come to a logical conclusion themselves, and if they truly believe his act is worth putting on they should stick to their decision. Its the flippy floppy nature of it all that seems to cause so much anger. Any theatre booking him now is asking for trouble, but if they do decide to do so, they should actually have a backbone about it. Its as if they don't bother researching the act first!

It's about the venue not really wanting to be associated with him. It's not a case of 'don't go' if you don't like him.

I'm sure he's been 'cancelled' by many due to lack of demand. I simply never hear anyone say 'get in' when his new tour dates are announced.

I laughed at a few of his jokes. Then again they were usually on VHS. So that tells you something. I'm pretty confident I could watch a 90min gig from him and not even smile. I'd probably leave after 15 lol.

Then again I'd say the same about Mrs Brown's Boys. I mean I'd definitely sign a petition to get that struck from the BBC if ones knocking around 😂

agree with a lot of the above - he is still very popular in a lot of environments and he should stick to them.

I was in an old Miners club in South Yorks a couple of years ago and the bloke behind the bar recognised my accent - he said "we've got CB on next weekend and it's sold out" thinking I might want to go. Big old place as well.

I'll sign it.

But only if it's petition to also burn all the tapes and salt the earth where they bury the ashes.
