Is she genuinely funny? Or is a “box ticking exercise”?

I don’t mean to go all daily mail on you, but I was just watching 8 out of 10 cats, and it just felt a bit awkward. I’ve no doubt she has a smart comedic brain, but when the quick witted reply comes 10 seconds later we had already predicted what she was going to say.

I definitely am not anti-disability or whatever the phrase is, but it just doesn’t work for me

May I present to jury.. Russell Kane

I rest my case your honour.

Based on the things she has writing credits for she obviously has comedic talent. Her comedy performances though I don't think are funny. Comedy is about timing as much as content and she doesn't have it. She also makes other comedians less funny because they have to wait for her to make a joke that everyone else can see coming and then pretend to laugh. I find it painful watching anything she's on. The pacing is just off, even if what she says would've been funny. She can be funny at times just not often enough for me.

A disabled comedian who I think is brilliant is Chris McCausland who is the blind comedian. He's hilarious.

Explain Newy?
Russell Kane is without question the least talented man that has ever appeared on tv.. yet he does.

Rosie Jones is not my cup of tea.. but she does the graft and fits the mould for mainstream tv.

Plenty of talentless fcukwits on the box.. would rather see Rosie doing her thing and representing than see.. Jack Whitehall and his dad making ‘jokes’ about how he doesn’t really understand ‘poor people things’ or northerners.

Box ticking exercise? Maybe.. but I would say those boxes apply to all mainstream entertainers.

Like him myself.

I like Chris McCausland.

She makes other comedians less funny lolol
I think you can see how unfunny they are.

Her timing is difficult to follow.. sometimes it works to her advantage.

She is funny and talented but I agree it’s difficult to watch sometimes due to her disability making it impossible for her to get the timing right. I think it is a bit of a box ticking exercise in some respects as whatever show she appears in would be improved without her just by being able to get more jokes in. The fact Francesca Martinez seemed be forgotten about as soon as Rosie started appearing suggests that too.

On this you and I will have to disagree newwy....I love Russell kane...his manic style appeals to me

I think she can be quite funny as a stand up but doesn't really work on panel shows.

She used to subvert the joke so the 'obvious' punchline wasn't always what you got but she seems to have abandoned that.

He’s just announced a gig at the town hall if you’re interested.
He did two nights in Redcar at the Halt just before Christmas as a WIP for this tour and was brilliant.

He'd done a headliner a few weeks previously and wasn't on long but he liked the venue enough to come back to test his new material.

Well worth seeing if you get the chance.

Francesca Martinez stuck her neck out and stood up for Corbyn. Not seen her on anything mainstream since.

I wasn’t aware of that. Not that it should affect her career that much in a pretty left wing industry but I suppose it would have been an easy decision to avoid the issue completely when Rosie came along.

She IS funny but definitely hard to watch - was very funny when she wanted to go on a podcast(think it was parenting hell even though shes not a parent)and told the presenters to speed her parts up to x3.

I like Russell Kane too - each to their own.
