Haha talk about whataboutery and deflection. This thread is a classic. The thread is about a labour MP resigning for breaking lockdown rules. Not Dominic Cummings or Brexit!!..... but but Cummings... but but 😂

Whataboutery is usually when someone does something wrong and people deflect onto a completely different subject, not just a person.

Like say Blair commenting on the positives of immigration and people say ‘yeah but Iraq’ or I talk about the 10 years of underfunding the NHS and you say ‘yeah, but Corbyn, antisemitism’.

This thread isn’t so much whataboutery as comparison to similar(ish) and the subsequent actions.

You would think a master of whataboutery would actually know what it was.
This is a comparison, to people doing similar breaking of lockdown rules. Two distinctly different reactions when found out. One contrite and doing a reasonable thing to party her party and the people it represents ahead of her own career. The other lying, cheating, using extraordinary powers and getting ministers to do the most humiliating things to try and deflect.

Surely the thread can be about whatever posters want? That's the beauty/downside of a message board.
 
Exactly..... previously though if there was a thread say about Boris Johnson and someone mentions Corbyn. Smalltown would be straight in saying but but Corbyn and you can’t bring anything off topic into it or it’s “whataboutery”. So if that’s the case and we playing by ST rulebook what the hell has Brexit got to do with it? As mentioned by Keelo.

Otto you are right people should be able to bring up what they want. I’m simply pointing out the hypocrisy of ST and the like

Well, it’s tangential in that the brexit liars Cummings and Johnson, rather than being punished and shamed, were in fact rewarded. They feel they can do what they want, avoid scrutiny and avoid being accountable.

Duffield, not a brexiter or an entitled tory by the way, having acted wrongly, had the integrity to do the right thing and take responsibility and the consequences.

She was clearly in the wrong, caught bang to rights and so she resigned. Shouldn't have broken the rules, but then did the right thing.

Demonic Cummings? Not in the wrong, clearly and not resigning. We should be grateful he's still there to run the country, obviously.

Can we see the difference children? Cooper, at the back, stop picking your nose and pulling faces, boy!
