Ronald 750 goals

Can he be the first to get to 1000 goals?

romario has this claim but nothing is a official.

he’s 34? Now on 750

can he score another 250 goals by 40?

even 200 by 40
And the rest in Australia or China in his 40s?

thoughts?

Can't see him getting 1000, no.

Takes nothing away from his prowess though, 750 goals in just over a 1000 games is an incredible record.

Top scorer is Josef Bican 805 goals in 530 games.
Should be a bit of * against Bican "He played for Slavia throughout WW2 while many of his football rivals were at war. During eight league seasons he would score 328 goals, including 57 in 26 matches one particular season. ... He was ... Europe's top scorer in five consecutive seasons, from 1939–40 to 1943–44 while the most of players and the physically fit young men were in the war."

So when he played against full strength teams he got a not too shabby c.1 goal a game (186 goals in 172 games).
When at Slavia including the seasons against weakened teams he gets c.2 goals a game (395 in 210).

Fantastic record. I think time might be against him though to get to 1000 goals. Hes 36 in February.

Awesome achievement TBH, hope he does but can't see it, though when you see his age, commitment, level he's playing at & his fitness you wouldn't bet against him doing it

To be fair, he takes care of himself and doesn't drink, so I'd expect him to play for longer.

Ibrahimovic is 39 and is the top scorer in Serie A, ahead of Ronaldo, scoring 10 goals in 6 games.
He's scored 75 goals since turning 36, and that was after coming back from a huge injury

Ronaldo still had 3 years before reaching the same age, and hasn't had a major injury in ages.

I hope he doesn't reach the milestone, because I don't like him, but if anyone's capable he is.

Pele sored his goals on mudhuts with no protection from refs and defenders kicking lumps out of him for 90 minutes. He's on a different stratosphere from Ronaldo, as is Eusebio.

I’m not saying he isn’t, completely agree regarding the pitches, balls, boots and tackles. Didn’t think this was a debate about who was the best.

But I thought Pele’s total included a few hundred questionable goals didn’t it?

I don't think so. I think it's more about negating his incredible achievement for whatever reason. And I will always maintain that it was far more difficult to score goals in those days when players kicked lumps out of you and there were no cameras to check the sneaky intimidation.

Wikipedia has him scoring 504 for Santos, 37 for New York Cosmos and 77 for Brazil.

It says the rest we’re scored in friendlies, international tours and some for the Brazilian Armed forces.

Wikipedia is way out then, Pele scored 643 goals for Santos, the record for the most goals for one club. Messi is currently on 641 goals for Barçelona and so will surely beat that.

The 'friendlies' they would fly out from Brazil to take on teams like Benfica, Real Madrid and Barca. Pele would score half a dozen goals against top class teams, would fly out to another country to play a game the next day, score a hatful again, return to Brazil to play in a league game, score a hatful again. Rinse and repeat. These players didn't rest and weren't pampered in the slightest. If you don't believe me, read some of the bios of Pele and the Santos team in the sixties.
