Latest Press Release Info
It has been a big week of music so far in Middlesbrough – and it’s only going to get bigger this weekend.
Tens of thousands of music fans are set to visit our town this week, providing a significant boost to local businesses.
After the success of the Arctic Monkeys concert at the Riverside Stadium on Monday, Albert Park will play host to two large-scale events.
On Friday, ska legends Madness head to Middlesbrough while on Saturday, the Let’s Rock the North East festival will see 80s stars like the Human League and Tony Hadley top a varied list of acts.
It’s also Teesside Restaurant Week, with almost 30 town centre hospitality businesses offering discounted three-course, £20 per head menus to diners in Middlesbrough.
Ahead of both music events, here’s what you need to know:
Road closures
Park Road North will be closed between 9pm and midnight on Friday and Saturday, to allow fans to exit the concerts safely. Hackney carriages will be available to pick up people from here after both events.
Parking
While some limited parking will be available at Clairville Common off Park Vale Road, drivers are encouraged to use town centre car parks and take the short walk to the park.
A full list of car parks is available
on the Middlesbrough Council website here.
Disabled car parking
Disabled ticket holders can access pre-arranged parking inside Albert Park from Park Road South.
Travel
Taxis, private hire cabs and anybody dropping off ticket-holders in a car are encouraged to use Park Vale Road and Park Road South. Please do not use the Linthorpe Road entrance to the park for drop-offs.
A Hackney carriage rank will be available on Park Road North after the event.
A further list of taxi ranks in Middlesbrough is
available here.
Albert Park is also well serviced by bus routes 12, 13, 13A, 17, 17A from Middlesbrough bus station.
Entrances
Every public entrance to the park will be open for those attending the gigs.
The official entrance into the arena inside the park is next to the fountain, and all ticketholders must use this entrance.
The rest of the park will remain open to the public throughout.
Can you come and go once inside?
Both events are no re-entry, except for those with urgent medical needs or parents with young children.
Site opening times
Friday June 9 for Madness – 5pm to 10.30pm
Saturday June 10 for Let’s Rock the North East – 11am to 10.30pm
What can be taken into the concerts?
Unopened soft drinks and water can be taken into the site as well as an empty, refillable water bottle.
Due to alcohol licensing laws no alcohol from outside can be taken into the arena, however alcohol and soft drinks will be available for sale once inside.
Food can be taken into the site on both days, as can camping chairs.
There are also food vendors within the site selling Indian, Mexican, Chinese and BBQ food.
Restaurants and bars in the town centre are also open and available to welcome fans ahead of the concerts, many of which are taking part in Teesside Restaurant Week – which offers a special discounted £20 per head, three-course menu.
