Rock n' roll hellraiser biographies

I'm in need of a new one so recommendations welcome. The best I have read so far are Keith Moon 'Dear Boy' and Ozzy Osbourne's.

The funny thing is you don't have to like their music to enjoy them.

And where have all the hellraisers gone? It seems to me that post 2000 rock n' roll mayhem just doesn't exist anymore.

I quite enjoyed "Bon:The Lasy Highway", though the Young brothers come out of it a little questionable. Possibly correctly.

Good call. I remember when he died, even though I was only 12 at the time I knew it was a big deal. Almost everyone was into AC/DC in those days.

No One Here Gets Out Alive (Jim Morrison)
Cowboy Song (Phil Lynott)
White Line Fever: The Autobiography (Lemmy Kilmister)
Slash (Slash)
Get In The Van (Black Flag)

Sorry but who is that? Keef Hartley?
Who is Keef? FFS kids of today!

Pete Doherty: Last of the Rock Romantics is a good read, as is The Libertines:Bound Together.

I'd also recommend Bon Scott:Have a drink on me.

Are there any good books on The Eagles? The most hell-raisey of hellraisers but I've never heard of a great book about them.

Know what you mean, music kids today are different and nowhere near as debauched. Don't know why, must be a generational thing and probably to do with the hyper self-awareness / narcissism / anxiety of social media. Oasis were probably the last huge rock band who did loads of drugs and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I once bought Shane MacGowan, who grunted an unintelligible reply, a whiskey in some tiny London pub where Pete Doherty was stumbling about doing a secret gig. That was quite a nice moment for hellraisers.

GINGER BAKER. HELLRAISER. BRILLIANT
Read a lot and Gingers was the most disappointing, childish stories, not well written and up his own ****.... Ronnie Woods, Keefs, Lydons - no Blacks, No irish .... Billy Idols was very entertaining as well

Was it at Filthy McNastys? I remember that was a favourite bar of theirs at one time.

I can’t help thinking when I’ve read some of these autobiographies that they are embellished in parts…I’m not doubting some of their antics…but if you’re that drunk/high…how can you accurately recall things you done in the 60’s/70’s/80’s…I do enjoy them too…maybe I’m just cynical.
