Robert Jenrick - No Contest

As you know the Conservative Party set exacting standards when selecting a new leader. The successful candidate must be devoid of any discernible talent, must be unable to relate to other humans in any way that resembles 'normal', be able to deliver 'zingers' that fill A&Es with an epidemic of cringe injuries, and above all come off like a thoroughly unpleasant, nauseating prìck.

The Party is blessed with perhaps the strongest field it has had in years. But despite the fierceness of the competition, Jenrick stands head and shoulders above the rest. We can only marvel at the ability of one individual to be quite so horrible yet at the same time utterly fùcking moronic, but let's not waste time contemplating how such good fortune arose. Let's just get him elected now. Come on Tories, vote early, vote often. You know it makes sense.

Jenrick's painting over of the lovely cartoon murals at the asylum centre for kids was a top top tory move, real Disney villain stuff there.

I do think that Badenoch is edging it though as she is unhinged to a dangerous level, a Trussian level. I wouldn't want Badenoch to be PM but I would like her to win this tory leadership race.
I don’t think the numbers stack up for her at the moment. I can’t see her getting to the final 2, she’s popular with the membership, but not with her fellow mps.

I must admit I'm torn.

Badenoch - Far-right ideologue. Crass, rude, bullying. Constantly denying she has said what everyone heard her say.

Jenrick - Principle-free, corrupt grifter. Lies constantly. Johnson without the manufactured clown charisma.

Which one would destroy the remnants of the tory party quicker? That is the question.

When Tugendhat is by far the most sensible option, yet he's been (practically) dismissed as not stirring the lions of the Tory faithful, not right wing and sh*t brained enough for them

Jenrick or Badenoch...... don't know whether to laugh or genuinely fear wtf is going on as one of these could be the next PM in 5 years. Never underestimate the utter stupidity of the British electorate 😬😬

I admire their consistency.

They have Badenoch, the Liz Truss continuity candidate. Jenrick, the Boris Johnson continuity candidate. And two other lightweight nomarks competing to be the lightweight nomark (Rishi Sunak) replacement.

Tory members are truly spoilt for choice, whatever flavour of failure they prefer.

I cant quite bear to follow the competition. I only really see the headlines. How many of them continue to be willing to die on Rishi's hill of turds that is the Rwanda deportation policy? More than one of them I think?

There's me seeing one who gave his daughter the middle name Thatcher and another handing out public sector pay increases and overseeing Net Zero.
I mean I work in the public sector and Boris johnson handed out pay rises and we were able to recruit massively under him. So that don't impress me much.

I do gather that they are adding VAT onto school fees. One irritating colleague is whining constantly about this. This I like.

Boris Johnson and his successors had the railway drivers and junior doctors on strike and capped civil service pay rises at 2% in a period of 13% inflation. So you don't need to be impressed, but don't rewrite history.

same same same
But it's not the same? We no longer have the junior doctors or the railways (en masse) out on strike.

And we have the Tories saying Net Zero is a disaster while Miliband pushes it.

There's also European policy, with a security deal and alignment with EU standards.

It's obviously a different government with different priorities. If you don't like it then fine, if it's not left wing enough then fine - but saying they're the same.is just obtuse and incorrect.

Ask you pals on RR if they think they're the same.
