Robbie Williams tribute to Postecoglou

Thing what I don't understand is the need to follow a "big" team.

Is it down to a very deep rooted insecurity, unable to function without this kind of perrenial comfort blanket supporting a team who wins things?? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Football to me has always been much more. Ayresome Park. Pint and craic in the Yellow Rose before the game with your mates. A defeat in a half full Holgate. Home, p*ssed off again. The ongoing hope. Repeat. Riverside same, just raised to a new level.

Never really expected that much from Boro tbh, made the success a million times sweeter. Whatever happens, I'll be there next season. Season after.....etc. Brought my kids up as Boro fans, taught them from a young age just enjoy the ride. A defeat isn't going to have an effect on your life, move on. Daughter gets proper radged when we lose, so work in progress.......😁

Plastic fans, they don't get it, never will. Do I care - do I bollox. Wouldn't swap the last 35 years for anything City or Chelsea bought.

Anyway, back to trying to sort Carricks best team and formation out.......

UTB👍
I also always see it as a personality issue. As you say, it suggests some insecurities that they hope saying they support a successful team will help mask.
They'll never get the same pleasure as real fans get. I'm convinced plastic Man City fans wouldn't get the same elation winning the champions league as we'd get grabbing a last minute winner away at Blackburn.
