Did have a conversation with a mate about how long it would take a new club to climb the pyramid... think it worked out at around 15 years from formation to Premier League with promotions every year

Very tricky process as the likes of Darlington have found out. Lots of fallen giants in very competitive leagues without many promotion spots.

Macclesfield went into the North West Counties Football League, which is the 9th tier of English football, so if promotion was attained every year then it would take 8 years

I watched it was excellent, would recommend if anyone wants to watch it on iPlayer. Thought Savage and the lad who bought the club came across really well Its a bit like Sunderland till I die..but it's only on for an hour, well worth a watch.

Just had a look - Macclesfield are 5 points clear at the top of tier 9

If Macclesfield are in tier 9, then it would only take 8 years to get to Premier League (tier1) with promotion every year. Only problem is that there would no way be promotion every year.

I watched it and it was ace. It's one of the best documentaries I've seen in recent times. Living over the hills in Buxton, it's relevant + I know some of their fanbase well. Like I said, a great watch. Good luck to them.
