Am I correct in recalling that the club's original intention was to install blue seats when the Riverside stadium was designed?

Also that the name that won the ballot was "Erimus Stadium", not Riverside Stadium, and that the ballot name was fixed ?

I think the initial artists impressions may have had blue seats but it was never the intention to install them.
 
I think it was on the 3D model software images with blue seats, that's all.

Have never ever heard any claim that Erimus won the vote, and don't believe it would've come anywhere close to winning.
In fact Keith Lamb said at the time that Riverside wasn't his personal preference. Unless he was throwing everyone off the scent of the conspiracy.....

They were. The argument was the sunlight faded them less over time.

Protest rightly ensued.

I voted Middlehaven. I thought Riverside was the blandest possibly option. I've never heard any rumours of the vote being ignored before: sounds made up to me.
The club has "loaded" a few votes in its time tough. The away kit for the 00/01 season for example: 1 white option with purple bits vs 3 purple options with white bits....

My first seat was white in the West upper.
As things thinned out, we moved towards the centre and a plain red one
 
Riverside is a bit of a ***** name, but it beats Erimus for me, in terms of how it sounds as a stadium name.

Middlehaven would have been my preference.

It's the only one that sounds like an actual place.

the choices were not exactly inspired.. probably just went for the one that went best with the sponsor.

I still think we should have went for something to do with Ironopolis..

What protest? The seats were never going to be blue.
 
The post about the seat colour made me smile because I think there was a bit of discussion about it at the time.

I remember going to the visitors centre when the Riverside was being built and the club ‘guide’ talking about seat colours to somebody and he mentioned that Newcastles seat colours were grey and not black. This bloke firmly said ‘I’m not interested in Newcastle I’m only interested in the Boro and we should have red seats.’
