RIVERSIDE RACING SYNDICATE - SHARES AVAILABLE

Hi All, as many of you will know, a number of years ago we set up a Racehorse syndicate from those members of this board that expressed an interest. Since then we have raced horses named Lady Erimus, Infant Hercules, Lady Ayresome (who ran at Royal Ascot) and Ironopolis who has recently been sold. 3 of the 4 named horses won at least one race with the other picking up prize money every time he ran. We are now in the planning process for our next venture, which will be for a 2yo with a Middlesbrough themed name that will race next season. A number of 5% shares have become available, so if anyone is interested in joining us next season, please send me an email to MrIsaac1910@yahoo.com indicating your interest and requiring any further information.

Now retiring with more free time and certainly interested MrIsaac!
I’m assuming me and our lass could watch him/her racing from here in 🇨🇦 on our IPTV hookup.
Would hope to make it over for some live races, or a visit to the stable at the least.
Could you kindly generally comment on the net returns/losses over the years for the current/previous syndicate members? I do recognize that it’s investing for the fun of the journey and the possible hope. Private conversation if that works better.

I've sent you a DM, Ravs.

How long have you had the syndicate going for?

I think it is over 5 years now(?), so you should have some good data on returns and loses over that time - is this something you would be prepared to share? Should this be seen as a hobby that costs, or are you selling it as an investment opportunity? Cheers

It has to be looked at as a hobby that costs. The buy in for the horse has always been recovered and the training fees are generally for your fun and enjoyment of the sport. If you drop on a really good one then that's when money can be made but its certainly not guaranteed.

My son's mate was part of this syndicate but I believe he's dropped out now due to getting married shortly. It is amazing what a mortgage does for your social life. My son accompanied him to Beverley in Ironoplis's last outing and he said although Ironopliss didn't perform well, it was a great day out.

I am still a member and have been for about 3 years I think now.

It has to be viewed as a hobby at a hundred pounds a month. It's a lot of fun and anyone who was at the Hillary Needlor will testify what a great day that was, as was the Royal Ascot outing.

You do get free food and soft drinks as an owner when you attend the races and it is genuinely great seeing your horse win. I live down south so don't go to all the meetings which tend to be on the northern courses so that is worth bearing in mind.

If you like your racing, it's worth it, if you don't not so much.

I too dropped out when my son went to college. I had a good clump of money paid back to me to reflect the value of my share in the pot at the time.

The payment didn’t cover the money I paid in, but it reduced the amount I had invested and was well worth it for the excitement I’d had. I recommend that if you have a hundred a month to spare, you go for it. I was sad to leave.
