Proper gangster, proper naughty, proper fearsome.
Now proper dead.
Now proper dead.
Suicide.
Never really liked the bloke, don't understand at all the appeal of "celebrity gangsters" but apparently he did quite a bit for charity and putting troubled youngsters on the straight and narrow so yeah ok RIP I guess
He was 64 years of age and stated he was an associate of the Krays. He would have been 10 years old when the Krays got jail in 968/69.
An element of this - He was a name/face whatever you call it around the rave and ecstasy seen. Think he was one of the first 'Gangsters' to move into the TV/Celeb world which has now become very common via various podcasts for people like this. Was he not a fake celebrity gangster thought of as a bit of a joke by the real criminals?
I would argue that the majority of their so called empire fell apart when they got jailed with many of their associates turning on them and giving evidence against them, and many others receiving jail sentences. Obviously, there were many other firms still going and I am sure the Krays will have had their fingers in things that did happen on the outside and people like Courtney will have used their name to give them extra clout with rival gang members. He was friends with them whilst they were inside, even arranging security for their funerals. Not sure their empire finished when they were jailed, and they relied on people on the outside doing the work for them,
The Jimmy Saville defence doesn't wash with me.My post was tongue in cheek, doing a lot of charity work doesn't mask any bad stuff you have done or continue to do. There is an obvious example of this.
I don't quite understand what he was famous for but the fact I know his name and saw him on the news highlights that he was indeed famous.
Notorious Newcastle hard man Steve Wraith.I would argue that the majority of their so called empire fell apart when they got jailed with many of their associates turning on them and giving evidence against them, and many others receiving jail sentences. There is geordie guy who claims to be an associate of the Krays and gets wheeled out when there is a re-hashed documentary on them. He contacted and visited one of the Krays in prison and got their permission to sell T-Shirts and mugs with their faces on. Obviously, they got some kind of a backhander from this and I am sure Courtney will have been doing something similar.
