RIP DAD: Spare ticket for tonight v Mackems

Good morning all.

The thread title is self-explanatory. I have a ticket for tonight's match.

I cannot attend. My dad passed away on Friday, 2nd September. He was an Irish, Manchester United fan. He took me to my first Boro game almost 41 years ago to the day he passed. It is ironic. It was Jim Platt's testimonial. George Best guest for Boro. It was against Sunderland on 9th September, 1981. Not many people can say they saw Best in their first match. I recall my dad being excited, walking through Albert Park, talking to Boro fans. They obviously clocked on to his Irish accent and knew who he came for.

He never got me to support United, though I do have a soft spot for them. He always liked the Irish Boro players the best though Juninho and Mark Viduka were two he grudgingly admired. He also liked Tony Mowbray, so it is fitting Boro play Sunderland with Mogga in attendance.

The ticket is in the South Stand, Block 56. First come, first serve. Pass me your email address and I'll send it by pdf. You will have to print it out at home.( Please don't be a Sunderland fan or cause trouble! The last thing I want is a stadium ban due to circumstances beyond my control!)

So sorry to hear this Birkbeck. I’m sure your dad would be proud of your very kind gesture. Hope we can get a win for you! All the best to you and your family.

Sorry to read that. Big respect for your really nice gesture and I have to say that’s a really lovely post you’ve written about your dad and your memories of him taking you to the Boro.
Rest in Peace @birkbeck_dj’s dad.

RIP your Dad mate, I hope he is looking down on the Riverside tonight, with an Emerald Isle smile on his face, rooting for the Boro! - Take care.

Sorry for your loss mate.
Very king gesture of you. I expect he’ll be drinking the black stuff and watching the Boro win.

Sorry to hear about your loss Bjd, some cherished memories that will last forever.

Sorry for your loss, birkhead. Your Dad picked a fine occasion for your first game. I'm glad you've got some great memories of times you shared with him.
