Who is the right back for the U21s?

Is it time for them to be given a chance? I don’t think anyone would have considered Hackney as being ready last season and look how that panned out

Looking at the Boro website and previous U21 lineups I think George Gitau is the main RB for the U21s.
20 year old, signed for us about 3 seasons ago.

*Also looks like Sykes plays at RB for the U21.

If Fry is back Van goes back to right back. If he’s not but Hackney is back then Howson
may fill in for a game. Agyemang is back from that short loan at Pools so he may come into the squad at least he’s played first team football, or as above Gitau from the U21s.

Hopefully Clarkes feeling okay after those extra minutes as well or we will be struggling at the back,

I expect Greenwood will come back in, with him and Rodgers on either side to cover Jones absence.

I expect Howson to be right back on Saturday. We might have to play kids in midfield. I'm not working on assumption none of the injured players back any time soon, as we seem to only get long term injuries at the moment.

If your right and none are back I’d expect Crooks would be played deeper in that scenario with Rodgers moving to 10 and Silvera starting wide. A youngster up against Morsey and Luongo in the middle would be physically bullied, we’d need abit of bite and Crooks can give that when he’s in the mood.

If Hackney is back then Howson can drop back, if not we can utilise both LB's with one playing on the right, the advantage of that is they both are match ready , the positioning of LB at RB will be the one who MC will probably anchor around the defensive position, another advantage is it keeps the pairing of Rav and Clarke together who may just be our best CD combo, it definitely needs to be looked at because we have been shipping goals all season.

Ooops C t C beat me to it

I would say Bangura goes to right back. He would be lost at Rob in my opinion. He’s an inexperienced very left footed left back.
Have said on other threads in my opinion that would be a poor move and one Carrick won’t consider. He’s an inexperienced left back - playing him out of position could be a recipe for disaster.

Thought he’d already played there tbf

RVDB at right back if Fry or McNair are fit?

According to Transfermarkt, neither has ever played right back.
Bangura .... Engel

Bangura with 10 games at right wing
Engel with 3 games right wing, 6 at right midfield

vs how many games our academy central defenders have played.. Bryant Bilongo, left back/left side of defence and Matt Clarke.. Jack Hannah? Cain Sykes

It's going to be interesting.. Hopefully Fry or McNair are able to play and we can go RVDB at right back.

He played an inexperienced centre back at both right back and left back. I'd guess he'd take the gamble.
