A few of the players on the list where on the brink of first team football not long ago or highly spoke of. It just shows how a bit of good/bad luck can easily make a difference in transition from youth football to first team. Physical development also plays a big part and how some young players develop earlier but hit a wall and don't progress others take longer to develop but keep improving. "It's a funny ol' game".
 
Not convinced by the statement on Jamie Jones. Think it's a bad decision given the talented young goalkeepers we have on our books.
 
I know Frankie Whelan's grandad very well and he also attended the school I worked at. A really nice lad and I hope he goes on to make a future in the game.
 
Looking through the U21s who are 20+ to see who survived the cull.
Looks to be
Jack Hannah, Cain Sykes, Alfonso Lindo, Nathan Simpson, George Gitau, Pharrell Willis, Bilongo
Plus Nkrumah and Agyemang

Aside from Williss I've not seen any sign that Carrick is interested in any of these. I'm surprised that Bilongo and Hannah survived.

The players that Carrick seems to rate are Finch, Matthews, McCabe and Lennon though Finch keeps getting injured. Interesting to see what happens with them this summer.

Most will probably be going out on loan if a suitable destination can be found.
 
It will take a while to get the academy and reserve squad up to strength. i guess you can't cull everyone in one go, otherwise would be difficult to field a competitive team at that level. As above, surprise Billongo, Hannah, Gitau and Sykes survived, but probably giving them one more year to see if they can hack it or one final chance at getting a loan to the National league or above. Gibson looked good for the reserves, but obviously thought not good enough for pro football.
