Couple of my mates have recently been to pinchinthorpe Hall with there mrs's and they all said its excellent. One of them had seared scallops and seabass so sorted for ya mrs. Will try it myself next week

None taken, but I've enjoyed food all over, Middlesbrough and Seaton Carew included. It's all about the grub. I've eaten shyte in pretty places too, some recommended by the food folk on here.

Vane Arms at Thorpe Thewles is very nice and they usually have a couple of fish dishes on the menu

I'm there today. I've enjoyed grub in there before but had to send it back last time, it was only a steak too.
Bit too far for you, but one for next time you're up the coast if your wife enjoys seafood is The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh or you could stay the night at Richard's sister Hotel, the whittling Inn in Alnwick, wider menu, but still plenty of seafood. The menu isn't always fixed for fish, he comes up with whatever that day's catch is, he buys straight off the boat

The Star in the Harbour, Whitby, from Andrew Pern who has The Star in Harome.
Heavily leaning to fish and seafood, for obvious reasons, but still do some meat and offal. I ate there at the end of August and it was good.

I've heard, though not tried, that Latimer's at Seaburn is decent for seafood.
Yes, food is lovely but they’ve closed the cafe and outdoor decked eating area since lockdown so it’s takeaway only now. Wife and I got the crab platter sharing box which has prawns, mackerel and other stuff and is huge for £25. We sat in the little park opposite to eat it

You seem a little touchy there regarding your beloved Billingham and I am in no doubt there are some lovely places to eat. No offence was meant, but to outsiders, whose only visit to Billingham was for football or the ice ring, then it’s not going to be top of your dining list.
I am also sure that people would have the same reaction when suggesting going for a meal in Middlesbrough. Other than a curry at the Massala, I wouldn’t go to Middlesbrough for a meal. I would rather drive out somewhere.
Apologies if that upset you or anyone else from Billingham.

So showed these options to the boss and lo and behold I think we’re going to settle on joplins and give it a whirl . Also means I can get a taxi which was an unexpected bonus . Thanks for all the recommendations and I’ll be looking them up at some point ! (Obviously won’t be able to find this thread !)
