Sorry all I know this ask pops up every but I can’t find one of the last thread so im
Posting again.

Any recommendations for a decent restaurant for a nice evening meal for a couple. I don’t mind driving up to about 45 minutes from Middlesbrough, for me and my wife.

She is a pescatarian so that pretty much rules out steakhouses but I’m happy for something little bit classier than the usual Jaunts .

oh and her words were, you can forget about the Boro for a meal ......how very rude 😀

Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Indian any good for you two?

Spices in Saltburn do some excellent fish dishes. Everything else is pretty damn decent too.

The Star at Harum ( helmsley)
The Pheasant at Harum
fox and hounds Sinnington ( near Kirkbymoorside
The old pub at Hawnby has reopened , can’t remember it’s new name but 3 separate couples have given it thumbs up

Fish special on our boards every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

This place was restaurant of the year in 2018 although I've never eaten there. Definitely out of my price range now. Just seen the price of the sample menu £125-140 pp.

Sample menu, a couple of nice seafood options but... Cheese £19 supplement !!!

Looks to get in the black swan , booked out heavily, we had people book our AirB&B just to go the the Black Swan. Again, neve been as its rep is too expensive , I’ve eaten at it’s sister in York which was really good

Toby Carvery, but not the one on Marton Road because that one is shiite.

The one near Wolviston off the A19, and when your lass gets asked what cuts of meat she would like, all she has to say is, “None for me thanks. I’m a Rastafarian.”

Sorted.

Tommy Banks from the black Swann also has a place in York called Roots which is fantastic. Tasting menu that comes in sharing plates, worth a look if you fancy a day out on the train!

Wild card entry, Riley’s fish shack in Tynemouth. Not much more than a 45 minute drive, deck chairs in the beach and amazing seafood.

We went to Otter and Fish quite a long time ago. It’s in Hurworth and was decent gastropub style food at reasonable prices. Might be worth a look too but can’t vouch for it as it was maybe 5 years ago so have a look at some recent reviews.

Great place, food fantastic. but realistically unbookable, Tommy is a great guy and a fantastic chef. Do you know what, the Royal Oak is decent, what’s your budget/ idea of where you want.

The peppermill in Billingham, the best in teesside, give it a try you will not regret it
Not sure it's open, I heard that they've had structural problems. Hopefully not closed for long, it really is a special spot.

Edit - they're open again, fantastic food and always have sea food.
