In search for positives I've had a look at the remaining fixtures for the 8 teams stuck in the mire - Charlton downwards as I see it, with Wigan included because of the point deduction.
I've highlighted games where teams from bottom 7 and Wigan play each other. Luton, Barnsley and Wigan have three games each against a fellow struggler, Hull have two the rest have one and Boro don't play any more teams in or around us, which is potentially a blessing, as we very much need all the points we can get and there are 14 fixtures that cancel each other out (ie- one team will drop points).
I think we need three wins to be certain to stay up. I wouldn't fancy Barnsley's next three games, and Stoke and Hull's fixtures don't look great with them facing a number of promotion chasers. Charlton's next two games are London derbies against Brentford and Millwall.
I think it will be Luton, Barnsley and Hull for the drop with Wigan twitching because of the points deduction.
