Redcar & Cleveland Council - Parking Charges

We have just seen a veg shop that's been there since the 60's close because it is only getting a handful of customers each day.
"[The owner] said with the Government’s small business rate relief ending in March and the minimum wage increase, he will have to pay £730 extra a month to support the store."

He also mentions supermarkets etc. forcing prices down. The parking charge is way down on the list of things that forced the closure. It may have been the straw that broke the camel's back but judging by the comments the closure was coming anyway. Not that it makes it any better.

The council are stuck between a rock and a hard place. You'd think a Tory Mayor and a Tory MP would be able to help but they seem intent on causing as much damage as they can.
