Redcar athletic

They are doing exactly what Marske did, it shouldn't be allowed to happen. The league really need to do something before they or other teams that will have to try and compete overstretch themselves and go bust

Other than recruiting a former Marske manager what are they doing that is causing a problem? Assume you mean paying players, hardly unusual in non league football.

My understanding is that the business model is built around 1 man throwing his money around, exactly the same as what marske had. Spending way, way more than they make, only takes the one person to leave until it all comes crashing down

Paying players is not unusual. Putting lads on contacts of around £500 a week is not a level playing field.

However, what they're doing is within the rules. They will go through some leagues but eventually there will be tears when the money runs out.

I don't wish then any success.

Fools and their money

Isn’t that the business model of half the clubs in the EFL? It’s certainly ours.
Correct.....
There are hardly any clubs ran on a fairly distributed wealth basis...
It's right from man City down to Redcar Athletic
The same principle applies and when its good it's brilliant for all concerned and the bubble is fantastic ride

When the bubble bursts its awful for all

Look at the boro with the money we spent on bringing in rav , the little fella Emmerson...boksic...

I agree with you its all clubs in a way at some time...some point in their history.

Good luck to Redcar enjoy the ride on the wave

Well I’ll be there this afternoon. It’s a cracking little club and I’m actually enjoying going to football again after giving up going to watch the Boro.

I agree it could blow up in their faces but I have no idea on finances, yes they have signed (or loaned) 7 players I think in a small space of time but at least they are trying to improve.

They’re owned by the lads who own Host & Stay. So at that level, absolutely wadded.

Well it didn’t do them much good today, beaten 3-1 at home by West Allotment Celtic.

Still enjoyed my afternoon out. Onto Seaham on Tuesday.

Didn’t go well today. Lots of possession. They keeper they have got from Stockton looked absolute brutal,
Kicking was off and he should have done better for the free kick for the 2nd goal

The players from Marske United are getting peanuts playing for Redcar, Adam Boyes is a class signing, Brilliant at this level

Bit of a shock Callum Roberts leaving Stockton. Been among their most consistent players for years. Guessing there must have been something behind the scenes to force it as it was so sudden and maybe that's why he's had a shocker today. He's far from brutal, can count the mistakes he made whilst at Stockton on one hand.

Ground grading will only get you so far. Marske were promoted on the basis they would make the necessary improvements, yet Darlo were denied a playoff place a few seasons ago as they failed to meet a deadline on ground improvements

Depends how far up the pyramid they want to go. Marske couldnt go any higher regardless of how well the team performed. A couple of teams have been relegated for that very reason I think North Shields were one

EDIT sitting 15th in the Nortern League they aren't heading for the Northern Premier League East Division anytime soon

Think Redcar athletic will be hard to stop winning the league next season.

Early review of Roberts would be he small for a keeper. His kicking was atrocious and he could have done a lot better for 2nd goal which was scored from a direct free kick

He's short for a keeper like, but you'll find plenty of Stockton fans who'll tell you if he was 4-5 inches taller he'd be at a league club. Must have had an off day with his kicking and it's always been excellent when I've seen him
