Red Faction - Sunderland (a)

I wasn't there so can't comment on that but RF have certainly made a massive contribution to the improvement in the atmosphere at home games. It will be sad if antagonistic behaviour like this (either by them, by people associating with them or just by people talking about them negatively on a message board) forces us back to the situation we had a few years ago when the club were antagonistic to RF, believing them to be more trouble than they were worth.

It'll probably go that way if (insert Police Force) present their evidence to MFC

Always thought RF were relatively harmless tbf, they've done great things for the atmosphere. But I noticed a photo before the Blackburn game with them all wearing black and faces blurred out. Perhaps they are shifting towards an Ultras group, like mentioned above.

The situation on Sunday needed highlighting and raising with MFC, who have clearly allocated that block of seats to the Red Faction for Sunderland away. The scramble for tickets that went on suggests it would have been next to impossible to get a block of 30 or so seats all together like that.

This also indicates to me that it was the Red Faction. The club wouldn't allocate a number of seats like that to just anyone/non recognised football supporter group.

Behaviour like that has absolutely no place in a football stadium. From other fans, from Boro fans, from anyone.

I'm not disagreeing with that. Just think it's sad if that's the way it's heading as it will only end one way.

Predictably you can almost guarantee the Colombian marching powder, making these tosspots think they're Anthony Joshua, was a contributing factor.

The sooner a proper crack down starts the better. Life time bans if found bringing or using drugs inside a football stadium at a minimum.

There were sniffer dogs outside the turnstiles on Sunday.
The searches were a bit half hearted as usual.
There was a guy vaping Infront of me throughout the game, right next to the gangway. No-one stopped him/took away his vape.

Not sure the club allocates them a block at away games, we had an issue a preston last season when about 10-12 of them took over two rows of seats in front of us, people trying to get to their allocated seats were met with f**k off were not moving all of them were 16-20 year olds, stewards stepped in but just found other seats for those fans that were ousted. Same again this year at QPR, this time it was our seats, there were 8 of us, one of them got a bit lippy, he was told in no uncertain terms what would happen if he they didn't move and they went, left two lads who didn't come back after half time. Seems to me they just get tickets and then group together in an area and try to intimidate people in to moving to accommodate them.

On Sunday it was a really sizeable wide/deep block.

I'd say 5 or 6 seats wide and 6 or 7 rows deep.

On 85 minutes when they all chased the stewards/police out of the ground who were arresting one of them, it left a huge block of seating free.

They were definitely all allocated seats together. They weren't just pushing there way in on that volume.

Thats all it takes, a simple 'mate you're in my seat' and if you're met with any lip, a stern 'move now' but obviously they'll be fans who wont answer back, who will feel intimidated by them etc but thats where surrounding fans should step in cos no good Boro fans being made to feel uncomfortable by our own.

The pixelated group photos have been a thing for a few years now. There’s quite a funny one of them all stood outside a nail/hair salon I believe.

A stern 'move now' might not always be the answer and could escalate things. Surrounding fans stepping in might not exactly calm things down either. Which is fine if you're OK with that type of confrontation but I personally couldn't be ar$ed with it.

Does it really matter what seat you are in at an away game? Other than the principle of 'someone's in my seat'.

Has anyone definitely confirmed who this alleged group of supporters actually were?
Before we become judge and jury - lets get the facts.(y)

Group of lads who couldn't have been older than 20 loudly bragging about getting coke past the dogs in the queue in the concourse.

A bunch trying to smash up seats at the full time whistle too.

A shame as the vast majority that I saw were behaving fine.

I still struggle to understand the dynamics of the RF. Are the original founders of the group still members, and are they more or less regarded as the leaders of the group?

It wasn't that long ago they held up a banner saying "football fans, not hooligans". It would be disappointing if they've swayed away from that.
