Red Faction - Sunderland (a)

The comment was not aimed at Red Faction, who I know are a committed group of fans, but to the mindless few who sully the name of our club with behaviour such as described above.

Fair play chap. (y)
I dont speak for them, but sometimes they are an easy target.

If they were sat in their allocated seats they shouldnt be too hard to track down but i very much doubt they will have

There was a similar group at Hull who set up camp right next to the segregation it started off as harmless banter but then got more serious .. anyhow stewards started asking to see tickets to check they were sat in their allocated seats (which they clearly werent) so soon scarpered once theyd been rumbled

There were around 20/30 of them all in a block of 6 or 7 seats wide and 4 or 5 deep.

The problem the stewards were having was a load of them who clearly weren't supposed to be seated there were stood in the aisles, walk ways and stairs and were giving abuse to any steward or police officer that was asking them to move back to their seats.

Any of you ever been in the central part of the Holgate?
If me and a few lads had stood in the Holgate all dressed in black wearing balaclavas with Boro Ultras written on our backs, trying to be all Italian/German/Russian or whatever, we would have fully deserved the kicking we would have gotten (after the had finished laughing at us).

Embarrassing behaviour, especially away to Sunderland.

On a positive fan note, the Adam Johnston songs didn't take off amongst our lot.
Don't know if the locals behaved themselves, as I couldn't hear them for most of the game.

At least you can spot them a mile off. Pixelated faces, fake stone island top and usually found in a toilet cubicle when not attention seeking.

A fair few of them probably mean well, but drowned out by the plastic hoolies.

You used to have a big block of Joey's who used to sit in the East End seats next to the away fans for a season or two around the 83 seasons who would wear those stupid baseball caps with the animals on top, seagulls, monkeys whatever, they occasionally came in the middle of the Holgate, give me the black Hoodies over that anyday.

Were they signing bland, German style football songs which no one else knew the words to?

Yes they were, when not shoving and screaming at stewards, filming the police on their phones with their middle finger up (who were filming them the full game).

They were all stood on their chairs clapping above their heads to the beat of some monotone song that nobody could understand.

Don't have any issue with that to be honest (although it's a little cringe).. I do take issue with their anti-social, intimidating and at times reckless behaviour. Completely spoiling the afternoon of those around them who were trying to watch the match.

Daft c***s.

Sadly they seem to have started to take themselves seriously.
From passionate enthusiastic cheerleaders to a parody of a continental ultras group.
I'd love them to stop with the costumes and mind numbing dirges and be the crowd catalysts I used to think of them as.
I don't think they've ever bene considered cheerleaders. Banners, chants, pyro and some matchday clobber.. can't fault them tbh.

I wasn't there so can't comment on that but RF have certainly made a massive contribution to the improvement in the atmosphere at home games. It will be sad if antagonistic behaviour like this (either by them, by people associating with them or just by people talking about them negatively on a message board) forces us back to the situation we had a few years ago when the club were antagonistic to RF, believing them to be more trouble than they were worth.
