I have just received a special offer to tempt me back to Audible for 3 months for 99p per month and are not sure which book to get with my first credit - any suggestions?
I read 'And Away' and have listened to 'The Satsuma Complex'. I did enjoy And Away but wasn't blown away with The Satsuma Complex. Some typical Bob bits in it but felt it was lacking something.Have you read (or heard) Bob Mortimers books?
I've found that in the past and had decent books spoilt by not liking the narrator's voice. Alex Ferguson's book springs to mind.I've no idea what sort of stuff you're interested in but, whatever you fancy listening to, ALWAYS try the 5-minute sample before buying. A poor or annoying narrator can ruin the best books. I'm working my way through the excellent Slough House series by Mick Herron, narrated by Sean Barrett. Non -fiction; Metazoa by Peter Godfrey-Smith
I've just listened to the sample. It sounds like someone doing a poor impression of Reginald D Hunter. DreadfulStay away from Reginald D Hunter reading "A Confederacy of Dunces". One of my favourite books rendered totally unlistenable,
That is an excellent selection. I’ve done them all except Stanley Tucci. In the middle of the void with the Villa fan right now.A few recent ones that I can recommend:
Moon the Loon (Keith Moon) - in progress
CONTACT - Carl Sagan - Brilliant
Three Body Problem - Brilliant
TASTE - Stanley Tucci - Very Good
Into the Void - Geezer Butler - Good
Interview with the vampire - Anne Rice - Brilliant
ENJOY!!
The Tucci book is very funny and a homage to his family and love of foodThat is an excellent selection. I’ve done them all except Stanley Tucci. In the middle of the void with the Villa fan right now.
I tried this but didn’t finish it.I really enjoyed Jay Rayner's "My Last Supper". His thoughts on food are excellent and I liked his songlist too. He's a very good writer. It did make me eager for a bacon sandwich
I’d still recommend the Jay Kristoff book, it’s not your typical vampire story.I should have mentioned, I tend not to read or watch anything sci-fi and other than the classics of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Bram Stokers Dracula, I tend to avoid books of this nature.
I do fancy @Wiseman_Vaughn choice of Stanley Tucci and Geezer Butler’s books.
Peter Hook's audio book is very good "Unknown Pleasures"I have just received a special offer to tempt me back to Audible for 3 months for 99p per month and are not sure which book to get with my first credit - any suggestions?
