I will debate any one on any topic but there has to be some reasoning given, some sort of rationale behind their views and not just blind ideological dogma.

It suggests that whatever view you have there is an equal amount of people who hold the opposite rule and is designed to seed self doubt and backing down. It's not about right and wrong, its about suggesting that everyone is in the same soup and guilty of something.
