Reason why Steve Round left Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly dismissed former assistant Steve Round after the latter opposed the decision to replace Aaron Ramsdale with David Raya last summer.

Steve Round supported Aaron Ramsdale to remain in goal following his impressive second season in North London, during which Arsenal contested for the Premier League title. The former coach feared that introducing a new goalkeeper might disrupt team harmony and voiced his concerns to Arteta, ultimately resulting in his dismissal in July 2023.

As ruthless as they come.

I think as we saw with Karanka, Spanish coaches don't like their staff to disagree with them!

Sounds a bit harsh to sack someone for a difference of opinion. Ultimately it’s Artetas decision doesn’t mean Round wouldn’t have got on board with it once it was made.

Arteta's is massively overated for me, over the past 4 season's Arsenal have the highest net spend, to me he just a Pep mimmick, but without the humility Pep has. He's way too intense, Pep is intense but noticeably tones the intensity down when he teams reach peak points in the season, thus taking the pressure off them, Arteta ramps it up, creating more pressure on them. Arsenal fans love him, but I think his luck will turn and Arsenal won't finish in the top 4 next year. They've been remarkably lucky with injuries and that will turn, their 1st team is top 3, their squad is top 6.

The more I see of Arteta the less I like of him. One of those people that thinks "high standards" gives you a free pass to be an **** hole.
It's fine when things are going well.

As we saw with Karanka, not so good when you hit a wobble.

If Karanka had the season Carrick has just had, I think he'd have jumped or been pushed by now.

This is the Reason Boro are slow in giving Carrick new contract if he dose not hit the ground running start of season he is out i would say they are already sounding out new manager . It will be interesting to see new season does carrick continue with messing around with the ball at the back & get turned over easy.
