Really looking forward to the Euros now

Reposting that I have some very good value hotels (sometimes as low as half the price you'll see online) for mostly the knockout games, having booked them in advance. Most are 4*, so not cheap, but good value.

Mostly one nighters, but two nights in Hamburg for the quarters and Berlin for the final. I got tickets for a last 16 game in Cologne and also going to Duesseldorf to the fan park with my son, who'll just have done his GCSEs so a great way to finish!

Got one 4* non-refundable for 26th June in Hamburg(turned out to be the last potential GCSE day so couldn't risk it), so if the hotel will let me change the name, happy to do this for a £50 donation to charity.

Message me if interested.

I'm waiting for the big injury to one of Kane/Bellingham/Foden, etc to derail our Euro victory. Other than that, there is only Southgate who can **** it up, which he does have a history of doing. Either way, can't wait. Should be a fantastic summer.

Sure I read today/yesterday that it’s been agreed that countries will have squads of 26 rather than 23, so you’d expect us to not have to choose between say Palmer and Maddison.

Probably, but I think the last WC or 2 and the last Euros all had 26 anyway.

He doesn’t have a history of f..g it up. It wasn’t a managerial decision that made Kane miss vs france. It wasn’t a managerial issue that made us lose to a better Croatia squad. You can argue about the penalty selections for the Euro final, and he has taken the blame for that to take the heat of the players, but those players must have volunteered to take pens and done well in penalty training. In the match itself both managers effectively nullified each other, with us edging it.

I agree with most of what you say about Southgate, but I think Southgate did have to shoulder some of the responsibility for that one. Its his job to motivate players and get them through matches they should win.

I don't think Croatia had a better 'squad' either, even with Modric/Rakitic etc.

But in his defence it was his first major tournament so he was perfectly entitled to an imperfection. 2021 was just desperately unlucky. 2022 we could/should have gone further but France were and possibly still are the best team in the world.

Hopefully that picture changes this summer.

Can't get excited about England footy tbh. I hope they do well - be great to see them win the Euros - but when they get knocked out in controversial circumstances.......🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

After the Watford game summer will be spent looking forward to new signings, looking forward to the new fixture list; moaning about the new kit, moaning all 7 of the kids kits sold out in 10 mins; then planning which away games we have a slim chance of getting tickets for.

And my birthday 👍

A reminder of that England team:

Walker and Stones were not the players they are today, good but not top class. Trippier and Ashley Young are nowhere near world class wingbacks and never were. Kane was on the rise but nowhere near the player he is today. Sterling had a great tournament mind. A midfield three of Henderson, Lingard and Alli VS Brozovic, Modric and Ralkitic is massively outgunned. That's before you look at Rebic, Perisic and Manzukic up top. That was a generation Croatia side.

Ask yourself which of these players at that stage of their career gets ahead of any of the class of 2010, maybe 2 at a push; 2010 was a management failure. Coming second to the US in teh group and losing in the second round to Germany, badly, rather than playing Ghana.
When Southgate started the great purge and got new players across the middle of the pitch, we then were able to compete and beat Croatia twice. That semi just came too early.

Agree with all of this.

The squad as a whole was callow/lacking in quality.

I still think if only Kane had squared it to Sterling though 😭😭😭😭
