This is a huge shame that some clubs are now not producing programmes as having that souvenir from the game is still special to a lot of people. I appreciate the demand is not as high now but I put this down to clubs not understanding what people want. The Boro programme team are especially guilty of this.
Too many clubs produce programmes that have outdated information in them. Social Media and online outlets mean information is readily handy so by the time the programme is produced the info can be out of date. In my opinion people want to see details specific to that game. Yesterday I would have liked to have known about Bristol City. Who plays for them, where have they played before, details about the manager and his history, who they have signed over the summer and for how much. What is the history between the games, player links. Great games between the clubs. Etc. And in detail. Not just one or two lines which is what you tend to get. The visitor section of the Boro programme is a disgrace. A token piece of general information across 2 pages.
For the Boro it would be nice to have more of a report on the games rather than just the score and some pictures. A report from a supporters day out would be nice (A huge feature missed in recent seasons FMTTM’s is the Tees Tripper reports. Please bring them back). Also more features on the personal side of players lives What they do, where they live, what hobbies they have etc.
If these details rather than just generic information was published then programmes still have a place for the matchday fan.
