It’s also about losing key parts of the team and squad as tav is also a big part of the heart of the team it’s ok bringing in names but they need that heart and commitment as well and that’s not easy to replace.

We got lucky with howson as he has heart in spades but players like him are few and far between.

Tav is a key part of the squad.
 
I posted this in July

All the positives we did in our summer recruitment was undone in one fell swoop when we sold tav.

I said after the other defeats but we basically sold our season.
 
The issue is not with selling him. There are bigger fish and it's just a reality. The issue is we didn't have a replacement lined up. Or that the replacement we had lined up (Mowatt) was unsuitable.
Traditionally as a club we seem to spend too much on poor forwards, defence we are usually quite good at, but we underspend in midfield which imho is the most important area of the pitch.

In defence of the club mind he is a hard player to replace. As good in defence as he is comfortable on the ball. It's like having 2 players in one.
