What’s the correct answer mr Roofie? Calling people a ranting rascist with no grounds is another example of this board allowing certain abuse to be carried out unchecked

This appears to be the appropriate way of looking at it forss....makes more sense...its generational lived experiences ...it will be soon the case that racism will be just another dim and distant memory but I believe we are a few decades away from that ..truly because of racism being linked with religion a lot

My children are young and when they learn about racist events from the past and the holocaust they are absolutely lost for words.

Which is good for the future

Their innocence is the future and the fact that this generation of children is growing up in a lived experience of ( by enlarge) acceptance and integration

Kindness is all we need...but the world has been and is/can be a disgusting cess pit

I try to ensure they grow up treating each person as an individual and to be kind

What more can a parent do....

I think racism and religion are wedded in a very unfortuante but easy way for a lot of people in the knuckle dragger camp

The cap fits their neanderthal heads and therefore we are a long way from acceptance of others and their appearance/beliefs...

The attitude towards immigration ( legal or illegal ) is the curernt accurate barometer of our society I feel

No, you stated exactly the opposite. You suggested anti racism was only a hard left trait. Which is really worrying. I would say anti racism was a human trait.
 
I am certainly not hard Left and I won't contribute to a pile-on, or call you racist.

What I would say, is that if someone was waking up with the N word scrawled on their garage door, we wouldn't be saying 'ignore it, don't give it air time, it will stop'. The world may never be perfect but ignoring the imperfections just means allowing idiots to do awful things.

There are lots of things on social media that can and should be ignored, but I don't think this is one of them. Just my personal opinion.

If some people strive for perfection and as a result we have to settle for merely an improvment, isn't that ultimately still a good thing?

Besides, the article linked in the OP doesn't name the culprit, or show what the racist abuse actually was so I think they probably are trying to strike a balance between condemning it without giving it air.

Although I have recently been reading "Permanent Revolution" By Leon Trotsky.
He postulates that revolution is never complete and class-consciousness of the proletariat is a necessary pre-requisite to defending the revolution.
Bit like permanently defending the NHS.

It's easy to ignore things when it is not you getting called N or P, if it is not you who cannot kiss your partner in public or hold their hand because they are the same gender as you. Etc.

In fact you may not have noticed but some of our politicians are quite happy to dog whistle to the racists and embolden them to speak their hatred out loud. I can't stop people thinking this stuff but if I can try to discourage it being openly spoken, that may go a long way to stopping it. Watch young people walking around in groups. Just watch them. By and large there will be a healthy mix of skin colours and genders.

We dinosaurs are a dying breed and we have a responsibility to learn to be the people that our young folk want us to be. It's their world not ours.

We are a country where the ruling party uses the demonisation of foreigners as actual populist policy. We have no chance of educating or improving understanding and acceptance of others inside such an horrific political agenda. Whilst the younger folk might not be as receptive to this I’m afraid the continued repetition of ‘ban the boats’ speaks to far too many still believing they (whoever they are), take our jobs, scrounge and attack our women’ - the government lap this up. Football fans are simply reflective of wider society - deeply depressing

is it still a 'pile on attitude' if the majority of the board think your comments are ill thought out, best left in the dark ages and have no place on here? This is the very reason why taking the knee has not delivered it's message yet at all.
