Qatar - Football’s Fyre Festival?

Interesting to see the reaction to this World Cup.. confirmation if one was needed that football is intrinsically linked with alcohol and hooliganism. Folks on twitter appear to critical of the slim brown faced fans wearing fake football shirts.. along with their standard issue banner and drum. No nudity, no flares being set off between bum cheeks. Disgracefu!!

The workers that have been living on the site for the past 11 years or so I imagine would want to take advantage of free ticket.. if they are being paid to make up the numbers, what is wrong with that. Far too many world cups that have seen masses of empty seats due to sponsors not taking up their allocation.

A dry World Cup? a World Cup without public disorder and violence?

Maybe the Qataris will soften their stance regarding LGBTQ laws after this? Improve their position of womens rights? (don’t think I’ve seen a female fan yet) Improve the health and safety of construction work? Still looks like a fairly new country despite its vast oli wealth.

The drugs clearly don't work!
Vapes are illegal over there! Punishment worse than for alcohol.

“The ban on vapes came into action in 2014 and punishment for the sale, purchase or even advertisement of the product can range from £2,000 fines to several months in prison.”

Well unless they all turn up on Sunday and no football gets played then the comparison with the Fyre Festival isn't a great one. I agree its a football festival which has had the least amount of hype and anticipation and could be a damp squib.
