Pulis sacked

Pity Gibbo didn't do the same in a similar time frame here. No time for the guy. Yes people will say he got us to the play offs but he surrendered it without a fight. His treatment of Bamford was a disgrace. The football was dire. I could go on and on but he's history.

Well if it was a similar timeframe here it would have been before we’d even got to the play offs, which was all anyone expected in his first season.

Whichever way you look at it this is a strange decision given the timings. Hardly like they didn’t know what they were getting. And I do believe their chances of staying up have decreased rather than increased.

Sheffield Wednesday have terminated the contract of manager Tony Pulis with immediate effect.

Pulis joined the Owls in November and posted one win from 10 league games.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri told swfc.co.uk: “The performances and results have not been of the level expected since Tony Pulis was appointed. There are also other issues which have had a bearing on this decision.

“On the pitch, seven points from a possible 30 is not acceptable. It is vital we maintain our Championship status and I feel I must make a change now with over half of the season remaining to give us the best possible chance of doing so.”

First team coach Neil Thompson will take charge of the team for Tuesday’s game against Middlesbrough and until a permanent appointment is made.

The club will be making no further comment at this time.

Potentially good for Boro though, heading to Sheffield and they have no leadership at the helm
A nice comfortable 3 points and 4-5 goals would be the icing on the cake 👍

Tricky one to make any sort of predictions isn't it, his departure seems crackers and I hadn't realised how poorly it was going there for Pulis. I was expecting a typical Pulis game and grinding it out for a point .. uneventful borefest :p

No idea for the reason for his sudden departure but it could get a reaction out of their team if they weren't performing for him .. the game won't go as easy as one would expect vs a club seemingly in chaos who've just binned their manager.

Would love another three points and a few goals though, keep a good run going to take to Wycombe. Let's hope so. Another two wins are realistic and would be a beauty return for us over Christmas .. If anyone can do it, it's Neil. If we pull that off with a game in hand we have to be a serious candidate for a top six finish if we bring in another player or two/don't lose anyone .. I know Roberts is likely to go back to City though but he's barely featured anyway. I'd still rather he stayed, mind. Surely he isn't going to.

Love the progress Neil is making with our team. What a guy.

Seems to be non football related reasons. Their fans reckon he told the chairman a few home truths about the state of the club. Not a Pulis fan as you all know but they have picked 4 points up in the last 2 games. Reach never celebrated his goal against Blackburn either and it was a great goal, there is something seriously wrong with the club. I am hoping we take advantage of their struggles tonight.

Aye, further look into their troubles after reading this .. it does seem dire circumstances there and they're in a battle to even stay in the Chazza now. Christ. Hope we can take advantage, get the points, and another few goals We're on a scoring spree now, who'd have thought that could happen a couple of months back ha ha .. be doing us no harm. :D

The possibility of them and Derby going out the league is off it. Won't happen but footy's crackers in this Covid age. Who knows what table is gonna end up looking like.

SW and Derby are run so hopelessly it has got to be difficult for their fans to continue bothering. Hope we bag another three points later, regardless.

Yes there could be a lot of truth in that

Which makes their chairman a bigger fool for sacking him, I don't think he would have told their chairman in a different way he would have told Gibbo

Pulis could have been their last chance of staying up

We should win tonight & score goals in the process but football doesn't always work out like that, or for the Boro, for that matter, if we are to be successful tonight we'll have to roll up our sleeves & dig in, they'll be hurting & will want to show some fight & what better way than against one of the best teams in the championship, dare we wish for 8 😏

Apparently he’s told Chansiri (the owner) some home truths in a meeting, so he’s given him the bullet.

Awful squad assembled by Monk, players not being paid in full, nothing in the transfer kitty.

Looks like they’re headed into League One.

From what i know about Pulis i am fairly confident he has not resigned.
I heard from a reliable source that he walked last week as there was no money available in January and that staff at the club were pleased that he left. Maybe he came back and then was given the bullet.

I didnt like Pulis when he was here, I don't think he is a bad manager in the sense he gets results, I just didn't like the way he came across in interview and press conference and I have never seen the Boro fan base so unhappy and split. But getting sacked after 10 games is shocking. Unfortunately it seems to be happening more and more. Garry Monk has a lot to answer for at Boro and at Sheff Wed. I can think of 3 or 4 clubs off the top of my head who sack managers every few months. It will get to a stage where it leave clubs financially unstable with sacking and signing mangers which makes you feel sorry for the fans of those clubs. It needs to come to a point where the FA or EFL step in and put some rules in place regarding managers(not sure how or what but something needs doing)

We're Boro though. The more likely it seems that we should win.... the more likely we are to lose! :(

The playoffs was the minimum requirement expected of him. Garry monk would have ended up in the playoffs.

1 win in 10 and some are wondering why he got the sack?

Reading some of their fans comments, the football and tactics deployed by Sir Tony were a disgrace...I’m flabbergasted.

No Marv, I don’t think a single person is suggesting he is doing well, but questioning the timing the night before a game, over Christmas, and questioning why they gave him a 2.5 year deal if willing to sack someone after less than 2 months. So park your next Pulis argument for another day.😬
