Pubs in the Rain

With the weather turning a bit miserable this week, has anyone powered through it and went to a pub, restaurant or cafe in the rain? Did you enjoy it?

I have plans tomorrow night but could be a night in if the weather doesn't let up, currently pouring down in Redcar and pretty sure it was hail-stoning through the night.

For those who own or work in hospitality, have you noticed any differences this week?

I've been to the pub 4 times since they reopened and apart from one Sat having a good drink with some mates, I've had 1 pint each time (and one of those was because the barber sent me over whilst I was waiting). I was really excited for the pubs to reopen, as someone who would nip to the local after work/on a weekend maybe 3-4 times a week, but to be honest I've been a bit Meh about it all. I've been happy enough sitting in with the missus watching comedy with 2-3 ales instead.

Scheduled to go out for the first time tomorrow afternoon. It's really going to take the jam out of my doughnut if it's pi55ing down and cold. Can see me going home early as that's not my idea of unwinding. I'd rather get a few bottles and watch the telly.

I had a couple of pints of Moretti about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon outside a N Yorkshire pub. My wife downed a couple of large Merlots. The sun shone and it was a great success.
I haven't bothered since as the weather has been too miserable. Yesterday lunchtime I walked past a restaurant in Bedale and all the half dozen tables were taken. There were about 20 people making the most of a temperature of approx 10 degrees. Wot larks Pip.

Been quieter this week but it was to be expected as we don't have any covered seating, only parasols. Only 18 more days until normality returns to our work.

I have this vision of you sat sipping your Moretti quietly and your wife seeing off a large Merlot in one and demanding another one!

We've just got back from 4 nights in a motorhome and the last 2 we spent in the van as it was so cold once the sun dips. we did have a couple of pints in a nearby beer garden, but we had thermals on, baselayer, fleece, windproof softshell and down jacket on top with gloves and hats and were still cold. Was taking me 15 minutes for a pee having to de-layer especially the bottom half

Went out for some food Tuesday night and sat in a gazebo so didn’t get wet.
Was wearing a jumper and a big coat throughout though.

I love a trip to the pub, but I've not been since the first day because it's just too cold.

Can't wait to sit inside and watch a match again though.
Me too, that's what I can't wait to do the most, just gutted we won't be able to watch a Boro match until August. At least there's a bit of footy in the summer to keep us busy...
