Priority points system

My guess would be 80% of season ticket holders are over 2 seasons people - thats 12,800 on a 16,000 base. Possibly we are 18,000 base now with new part season ticket holders, but those new peoiple unfortunately lost out on MU tickets.

Its expensive to commit long term. How often do you hear the phrase "why should I buy a season ticket when home games never sell out and I can just pick and choose the games I want to go to?" Or living through the Woodgate season when the club had virtually nothing to spend and we were forced to sell key players (cheated out of a play off place the season before).

My guess is that there is a 25% chance of us getting to the Play off finals - Over 50k will want to go and we would get around 35k tickets. As I said before Xmas buy a season ticket if you can if you want to go the play off final (assuming we get there).

I can’t believe people are really “selling” their priority status to friends and family. If I asked a friend who wasn’t going if I could use his status and he said yes but only for £20 quid, he would no longer be my friend.

As for the demand, why does that surprise anyone? I’m going with 3 mates and we are all long term season ticket holders but only occasional away game attendees (although 1 went to Mansfield). From a personal point of view, a Friday night in Manchester after watching Boro play/beat Man Utd in a cup match is always going to be more appealing to me than a Monday night game in Blackburn and I’m obviously not alone in thinking that way, hence the high demand.
I think it’s more people offering double price for tickets or buying tickets to sell on to whoever has the money rather than mates touting to each other but some people see themselves as Del Boy types and wouldn’t think twice about selling to mates for a profit.

There are definitely tweaks they could make as highlighted. Have a bracket of 1+ point so that fans with low points still get a chance ahead if general sale? Allow qualifying fans to buy two tickets as long as the second has any amount of points?

Everyone thinks they have a right to have a ticket, but what is the fairest way? For me the points system is penalising you if you don’t go to away games, and I would prefer the system to be like the old one, where Tickets go on sale to all Season Ticket holders and then a General Sale, unfortunately you can’t please everybody.

You didn't have to go to a single away match to buy a ticket to this match.

It made it down to 140 points, so a season ticket for 2 seasons and you were eligible.

But that way penalises season ticket holders who go to away games. As a season ticket holder who doesn't go to any away games has the same chance of a ticket as a season ticket holder who goes to every game

That’s correct, forgive me if I’m wrong but what happens say next season if the same happens again, is it going to Priority Points 230 and 210, or do the points reset, or is there more in the mix. Personally it doesn’t affect me for this game as I am away working, it just my opinion.

It's a 2 year cycle, so points will never accrue to a huge amount.

The priority points system is perfect. I'd even say it's too lenient and the first sale should be upped to 170-180.

I've had a continuous season ticket (150 points), plus I've been to two cup games in the past two years (3 points each) - 156.

The first sale needed 160, which was disappointing for me because I didn't get in the block I wanted, but I don't go to many away games... so I shouldn't have priority over fans who do...

If the points system was scrapped, you'd have part time fans who don't even go to home games, getting tickets to Man Utd for a day out and a **** up, and season ticket holders who travel thousands of miles to follow the Boro every season missing out, because they didn't get to their computers in time...

If it happens again next season it will probably go up to 180 for the first sale, and so it should...

Fans who travel up and down the country to the small games, should have priority over EVERYONE else for big games. They should be given an extra day to buy their tickets in my opinion (I'm not one of them - I have 156).

Any priority points system should reward season cards but it should absolutely reward away day fans, especially for an away tie.
I’ve been to every game this season home and away, Boro based.
I see the same faces on most away games, I’d say a core of 500 to 1000. It’s people in that bracket who should have first dibs then people who attend only home matches.
Strange that there was empty seats around me at Cardiff and reading?

'For me the points system is penalising you if you don’t go to away games'

Yep, that's the intention of a loyalty system.

If you want to build up points go to away games.
There have been plenty of away tickets available all season.
Thats the reality of it unfortunately, I get its not possible for many people to travel away but plenty of away games this season have gone onto general sale. It would be very unfair if those who attend away games regularly were to miss out on a high demand fixture

Plenty of away games coming up this season that wont sell out too so everyone will get the chance to attend at some stage if they want to
