'Priceless' Pet Shop Boys letter found in Altrincham record shop

had a record shop in wingate for 5 years and over that period bought many many collections. I always checked the empty envelope in gatefold sleeves and found many items ... amongst them are love letters, compromising photographs, cash, autographs and a war medal who once i found the original owners family I returned...

Crazy that but guess people just forget about things they once cherished.

When did you have your record shop! ?

In the early nineties I was burgled and they took almost everything except the record collection. I found the vinyl stacked neatly on the floor. They wanted the box they were stored in so they carry off other stuff!
It seemed like, from then on, the safest place to put valuable documents etc was in the record sleeves. Maybe this is why you found all these items.
Nowadays there is renewed interest in vinyl, of course. I sold them to a dealer last year for about £1500. I didn't check what was inside each sleeve, though!

Brother used to go in your shop a lot when him and his son started to build up their vinyl collection 👍
 
I stick stuff in between records on my shelf if I want to store it, but dont want it on display. The problem with having maybe a 1000 records is that then you forget which two records you've put it between.
 
Inside the front part of gatefold sleeves is where me and my mates used to slot our porno mags so they were safely hidden from our parents 😝
