Press Conference Tomorrow is at Training Ground

I wonder if this is coincidence or a kind of back to proper business message from Wilder?

Has the return to in person pressers been on the cards a while Rob?

For the first time since the start of COVID a real and not virtual press conference.
Tomorrow morning at 9.15am at training ground with new manager Chris Wilder.
Excellent. Shame they couldn't have unveiled Wilder with a live press contingent.

They have been talking about returning - but I wonder about it all. As I said last week it has to be greener to do it virtually.
It will be interesting to see how it all works, it has been such a long time.
Will be my first and last for a while due to work commitments.

Was Warnock always 'oop' North for them or did he dial some in from elsewhere further a field, but Wilder's permanent address is an easier commute?

That said Warnock was meant to be living at Rockcliffe wasn't he? You couldn't get an easier commute than that!

Warnock always had the advertising board behind him... but i guess you could transport that anywhere

I believe he was living in a house at Rockcliffe

That's the sort of thing I was thinking, or maybe just because of his age, or he may have had a medical condition that made the increased risk unpalatable?

It just seems too much of a coincidence that it has switched for the first Wilder one.

Warnock was always either at Rockcliffe or Riverside for the press conferences. Paul Dews the Boro media manager was always sitting next to him. He wanted to meet press and fans. Having had Covid and being 72 they were probably right to take every precaution though. There was also the risk of someone bringing infection into the training ground. There will be precautions put in place tomorrow.

I assume lateral flow tests? Sadly, there is no certainty that someone has actually done one.

No. Not lateral flow tests. Just not using the main entrance etc.
- Update - We were stopped at the gate and took a temperature test and wrote down all details as you would usually for track and trace and then entered the building through a rear door that is direct into the press room.

First proper press conference and very friendly it was too - Chris Wilder introduced himself to everyone of us with a hand shake, if it was OK by us. There weren't many present because it clashed with Newcastle. But it was good to be back. So odd to be driving through Hurworth again after all this time.
Wilder is plain speaking, "round pegs in round holes," and grounded as far as present realities but not afraid to be ambitious. He is reaching out to media and fans alike. He has already been to the club and met many of the (non playing) staff. He looks forward to working with staff already here as well those he brings in and closely with Kieran and Neil Bausor. I don't get the impression he wants Boro to stick around too long in the Championship. He wants to work hard to bring back good times again.
