I know we're far from there but this applies even if we don't go up this year.

Do you think Carrick and Scott would do a better job in buying players fully suited to step up to that league than Karanka and Orta's sh** show?

It rather depends upon budget.
I'm confident that Gibson would invest much more heavily.
I think the recruitment would be heavier and bring much greater quality.
He wouldn't make the same mistake again and throw a promotion away.

Cameron Archer - £12m
Ryan Giles - £8m
Ilias Chair - £8m
Sander Berge - £11m
Dean Henderson - £12m
Harry Maguire - £15m

Sorted 🤣

No way we are getting those players for that price and berge doesnt get in ahead of Hackney either 😊

Going on MGW price last year Archer will be 20 mill plus if he keeps impressing

Even with strong investment we couldn't afford to buy the highest class established PL players.
Going up with 3 or 4 of the other excellent Championship players and 3 or 4 foreign gems, plus 3 or 4 big club youngsters, I think would give us a hell of a chance of staying up.
Players like Gyokeres, Berge, Piroe for example and defenders of similar quality.
I think that under Carrick they could stay up, but if they faltered would fly back up the next season even stronger.

Gibbs White was crazy money.

You never know, do you?

You could argue that the recruitment for Karanka was ok, but he never had a plan B for that squad.

Who would ever have thought that Huddersfield would have stayed up with their squad. For all those who bet the farm like Forest have, there are those who stay up with players who didn't really set the world on fire when they visited us during promotion seasons.

Carrick will know what he has to do.
He wont show sentiment, but hes certainly not ruthless.
We will just get better quality players with some of the current side moving on.
Part of the problem we had last time, was we kept some Championship standard players who just werent up to scratch.

We apparently tried to buy Archer. So that means we mean buisness and have a couple of quid knocking around. I imagine the bid would be significant by champo standards.

I'd like to think we have had a conversation about buying Giles. He's very much part of everything that's currently right at the club. He's been on loan for 2 years. So not sure they 'fancy' him.

I have to say the loans have been decent this season. Well apart from Muniz who's probably cost us a fortune in wages and loan fee.

Just reading the Sheffield utd,,,( gloating) fan forum.
And came across this.
"Berge 2/10: A reversion to form for him. Berge isn't firstly worth his transfer fee and secondly suited to the English Championship game. He's dreadfully casual, slow and easy to pick off, his movement on and off the ball is well below what is needed and how the f**k he stays on after half time is anyones guess. If the board are after advertising him for sale and recouping some cost then he's letting that plan down by his dismal, carefree and somewhat nesh footballing"

Interesting how fans view their players, they are usually right.

Even with significant investment, look at Forest, we will be in a relegation scrap if we go up. It’s taken Fulham three goes to get to a decent level. Fans have to be patient and see finishing 20th as a step up on having been sat 22nd or 23rd the year before. We need to buy players with good sell on value on relegation, so players like Archer and Giles definitely fit the bill. Think we will be less naive than we were under Karanka.

Sounds strange but I think it’s probably more likely we sign Giles if we don’t go up. Really not the kind of left back you want in a relegation battle imo. Would be torn apart by premier league wingers
