I always thought about buying one as well love the detail on it
Taken it to every place I have lived since he died. As he did carpentry if every house I lived in from the early 80s until he died the late 90s.In memory of my dad.View attachment 3088
Thats the point. You can spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on possession but it is something as simple as this that really holds its value. Irreplaceable.Taken it to every place I have lived since he died. As he did carpentry if every house I lived in from the early 80s until he died the late 90s.
Very true mateThats the point. You can spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on possession but it is something as simple as this that really holds its value. Irreplaceable.
Spot on. There is a story behind it.Thats the point. You can spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on possession but it is something as simple as this that really holds its value. Irreplaceable.
Lovely. I wish I could have kept more of the posessions of my late brother but unfortunately I gave most of them away. Some incredible stuff his programme collection in particular. When you are grieving you do silly things.Spot on. There is a story behind it.
I was sent on a management training course in the late 90s or early 2000s. Two weeks off-site from London in the USA. Part of it was about if your life was better then you would be a better manager.
They had a psychologist interview each of us about what could make our life better. I talked about why I felt I could not move on from my current house. As my dad had died and he had done work in every house I had owned since leaving university.
I also discussed that the family had my dad's old tool box. That we could not get rid of. The guy told me to take something from the tool box and make it special to us ( my wife and myself). He said you can let everything else go if you can take that one memory with you.
As well as this our apartment in Spain now has:
- a picture from Paris representing my mam.
- a picture from his house representing my uncle.
- some tiny vases representing my wife's grandma.
Plus I have a Romanby golf ball marker and pitch mark repairer. Representing my brother who died in 2016. I taken him with me whenever I play.
I have to thank the company I worked for, Reuters, for this.
Such a shame. I feel sad for you.Lovely. I wish I could have kept more of the posessions of my late brother but unfortunately I gave most of them away. Some incredible stuff his programme collection in particular. When you are grieving you do silly things.
I'm not sad we had great times and he wouldn't want anything maudlin or sad. It would have been his 57th birthday on Thursday. We went to Boro games together and I haven't been back since we lost our kid in 2012.Such a shame. I feel sad for you.
This advice has helped me so much in life. I am a better person for going on this management training course.
You only need one little thing to trigger important memories.
Looking back I'm really glad I bought it (it was model number 975 out of a limited batch of 1000). Always reminds me of my Dad. It sits proudly in a cabinet in the dining room, when the cabinet light is switched on it becomes floodlit (something special about night games at AP).I always thought about buying one as well love the detail on it
