Portugal pre-season training camp

I believe it's Saturday that the mighty reds fly to Portugal after our game at York on Friday evening for a week long training camp?

If so, you'd like to think Wilder will be desperate to have as many of his new squad members be part of that trip.. firstly to get across his methodology and ways of working, but also for team bonding/morale also.

You'd like to think Boro will be ramping up the recruitment this week to try and get bums on seats on that plane.

2-3 signings this week?

Steffen, Smith and McGoldrick, who else? I think the main striker we're gonna spend a few quid on will come later, due to the Spence transfer taking longer than CW would have hoped.

I'd be more than happy with Steffan, Smith and McGoldrick this week.

We need the striker, but it's definitely not a deal we should rush. Unless the deal for Armstrong is progressing, it'll probably be closer to the end of the window.

Nothing stopping us from adding players while we're over there. I seem to recall Downing joining up with Karanka and the squad when they were in Spain when he signed.

Yeh, that's true I remember that.

I was told over the weekend that Boro are no longer interested in signing Gayle and Armstrong.

Unsure on the reasoning behind Armstrong but Gayle was down to his injury record.

It's almost like anyone's allowed to book a flight, rent a car and drive to an undisclosed location in Portugal. Could probably even arrange for Spence to drive it back to the Hertz depot...
