Point the finger elsewhere

It's not knee jerk, or indeed what I think should happen. In the modern game though it is the inevitable consequence of failing to provide results.
We played some of the best football in recent memory last season under Carrick when he had the talent available to not only retain possession, but also to outscore teams on a regular basis. We no longer have that ability in the squad, or at least it hasn't shown itself to be there yet and hence he will need to adapt his tactics to try and get the best out of the current squad. If he insists on trying to play like we did last season then we'll struggle and results will ultimately seal his fate.
Good post if hes a good manager he should be able to adapt. I think we all know this squad is very weak but its not bottom 3. If he can't get results its on him ultimately.

Be interesting if he sticks or twists against a saints team who leak goals.

I still stand by my opinion that he needs help in the form of an experienced and older assistant manager. Somebody who has experience of being in this position and how to help Carrick turn things round.
When we where rumoured to be interested in Carrick my opinion was that I think he needs and experienced assistant manager alongside him.
Last season he proved me wrong upto the point when we started our bad run of form but even then an experienced number 2 might of helped turn things round.
For all Carrick's experience as a player he spent most of his playing career at top end clubs which most of the time is a good thing but when backs are against the wall maybe he needs someone alongside him who has experienced a Championship battle and came out of the other side smiling.
