Pochettino leaves Chelsea

Why don't owners ever think of the long-term these days? They were just starting to click under him as well.

Icing on the cake now will be it they appoint Lampard.
Strong and stable aren’t they.

Giant irony with Chelsea is that half of their squad are on 8+ year deals.

McKenna, even though I don’t totally trust how much flavour of the month he is, would be literally insane to go there compared to all his other options.

I can’t see McKenna leaving Ipswich to be honest.

He would be crazy not to, not many managers come out unscathed if they get relegated in the first season. At Chelsea he will get to work with some of the best players on the planet, have a ridiculous budget and be paid a fortunate if it doesn't work out.

Alternatively, he could become the next Phil Brown.

Ipswich owners are wealthy. They will make it worth his while. Just you see.

Unless he's just thinking of the money (a fair motivation), he'd be crazy to leave Ipswich, not crazy not to.

If Ipswich get relegated, nobody is going to bat an eyelid, they'll be one of the favourites to go down regardless of who's in charge.

His reputation won't be damaged unless they absolutely stink the place out, he'll have an enormous amount of goodwill for his achievements in his first 2 years there and he'll have a reputation for loyalty and dedication.

If he leaves them to join Chelsea, he'll be odds on getting sacked within the year unless he pulls off a miraculous trophy.
Chelsea do not give managers time.

If he goes to Brighton, a historically smaller club that has scrambled around the bottom half of the table for the majority of their time in the top flight and are back on a downwards slump, it's not going to be an easy job either, and there's no built in good will there.
If Brighton struggle, he'll get the blame.

He's only 38, he has a lifetime to manage yet.

Ironically, I think Ipswich are looking to become the next Brighton. I don't think they expected to get to the Premier league this quickly but McKenna will have no lack of money to spend; his only constraint will be PSR. It seems crazy to jump ship now.

I suppose, though, a manager just like a player has to take opportunities when they come because there's no guarantee it comes around again. This is probably a good time to take over Brighton. They aren't in Europe next season so they can focus on getting back up the league. It would be a major step to a Champions league club if he stays with them 3 years and gets them back into Europe with some good results.

Ipswich have done fantastically well and he looks a bright coach indeed, but it’s quite funny to me that Manchester United, Chelsea and Brighton all seem to be falling over themselves to offer the keys to a manager who has the same CV as Chris Wilder in 2019.

Let's face it, Burnley stunk the place out and Kompany is off to Bayern Munich! Luton were not much better yet Rob Edwards seems to have come out of it with his reputation enhanced.
