pmqs...but Corbyn

Never known such collective short term memory loss as you see in the conservative party.

You'd think they'd want to steer clear of the topic of former party leaders given who their last one was. Suppose it's been a week though, practically ancient history in politics these days

Look I'm biased I know but Starmer absolutely slaughtered Sunak today. In only his 2nd PMQs Sunak has resorted to a Johnson-lite defense of 'but Corbyn'.

Really impressed with Starmer today, his questions are so clear and precise so to make look Sunak look like a blithering idiot.

Like some wag said on Twitter.

Starmer: What's your favourite Marvel character?
Sunak: Yellow

What I like...he doesn't hide his disdain for those opposite and their policies. It's not beige, or boring, but indicates a clear desire to do something better.

Sunak is just another "placeholder" PM. They don't know who they want to lead them or what their policies are about anything but they desperately want to see out the next year and a bit to try to avoid a complete wipeout at a GE. So, for now, he'll do. I suspect that if Leaky Sue is forced out then the attempt at unity (ha) will quickly collapse.

He’s there because she’s there.
He knew she was useless, everyone knew it. But she is on the swivel eyed right of the party, and she was the price of their support. So he’s trapped…he can’t get rid of her, you could say he’s their creature now.

Until the budget passes... then she is toast.

Russell Moyle thought PMQs was a score draw.
I’d give it 55-45 in favour of Starmer, I hate the Tories but trying to be even handed……

That said the news reports of it sounded like Starmer handed him his ærse. Didn’t quite see it like that.

Starmer was spot on today in his questions. Sunak looked weak and out of his depth on immigration - and bringing in Corbyn’s name is wearing thin and outdated. Starmer’s line about him prosecuting people smugglers as DPP hit home. Starmer knows the Home Secretary is marmite in the Tory let alone the country’s eyes and they will continue to attack Sunak on his decision to appoint her to get the job as PM. I thought it was Starmer’s best performance and he needs to keep hammering Sunak’s decision making.

Sunak is dreadful, I’m surprised how bad he is actually!
It’s mainly because he’s trying to govern a party in chaos because they are split on how to move the country forward and as said above, Sunak is a temporary stop gap and when they are kicked out by the electorate they will have an almighty battle for the party’s future; centre policy or hard right.

Agree, as much as I want Starmer to hammer Sunak I thought Starmer won but Sunak landed blows….
If leaky sue gets forced out by the backbench tories then I think the pack of cards will start to fall….and he’ll call an election…..

I'm genuinely interested...what blows? To me:

Corbyn...no one gives a toss
Open border policy...laughable
Voted against all Tory border policy...the policies which have lead to, in their own words, an utterly failed system

To me, he didn't even have a near miss, never mind a direct strike.

With respect I would disagree unless references to NATO, Corbyn and 2019 can be categorised as 'blows'. Exactly the same, tired, old attacks Johnson used to come up with.

The Tories have got an 80 seat majority and still can't do anything right. Moaning that Labour has voted against Government policies (that's the opposition's job) and using that as an excuse for its own inaction is laughable really.
