PMQs 13/7

Did anyone watch? Absolute chaos at the very start with two MPs being thrown out, they were Alba Party.

Fingers crossed that's the last time we'll have to endure Johnson, his lies, and his embarrassing school boy nicknames.

Hopefully Hoyle is replaced as well, that man is a fraud of a speaker.

Hoyle saw what happened to Bercow when he did his job correctly and called out the government - his "automatic" HoL seat was withdrawn.
So Hoyle sits on his hands, doesn't rock the boat, fails to call out the lies, bullsh*t etc all for an easy life and the HoL seat when he steps down.
Absolute sh*thouse. Another one complicit in allowing the government to do what they want.

Absolutely this. Hoyle is a pathetic waste of skin as speaker.

Seems quite a nice bloke in interviews but he could do with growing a spine to do his job properly.

Spot on I'm afraid: I watch PMQs regularly and am struggling to remember a single occasion when Johnson actually answered a question. Instead he's allowed to spout his usual stream of no-self-consciousness gibberish. If the speaker can't remind him of and hold him to the purpose of Prime Minister's Questions, what's the point? (The clue is in the title)

Any question put to Johnson is always "no, but we are getting on with levelling up, getting brexit done, creating jobs, fastest vaccine rollout in Europe and that is what the public want"

That's a feature of the House's procedures as much as anything of the speaker. The clue isn't actually in the title; otherwise they'd be called Prime Minister's Answers.

Strictly speaking the PM is supposed to address the question.

True; but I was assuming a question supposes an answer.
And you're absolutely right about the shortcomings of HoC procedures - how often in debates do you see an MP desperate to come back to challenge a pathetic excuse for an answer or call out a lie or half truth, only to see the "debate" move on

He is terrible, an absolute embarrassment, but they all were. I did wonder what the rest of the world must think watching it. I know we think they are out of touch, but even more so watching that. They don't represent us, they don't know who we are.
