Pinged - self isolation

Would be good to see the figures of pings that translate into positive cases.

I know in schools it was very low. I think 5% or less of a class would go on to be positive.

I dont think the app is the issue though or sensitivity, the issue is the amount of cases in the country.

Track and trace is meant for containment, which we are way beyond right now.

About 35% go on to develop "covid" symptoms, but they may have some other virus or, on the the other hand, higher numbers may be asymptomatic.

Is that 35% after being pinged from the app or following a call from the contact tracing lot?

There were 600,000 people pinged last week & the government are saying key-workers don't have to self-isolate, that seems like a high risk strategy even for this Govt of chancers.

I went to a wedding last weekend in which someone was attending as they had got on to some trial in which they’d been pinged but didn’t have to isolate as long as they tested negative everyday.

After the wedding there has been an outbreak and that person who was testing negative, tested positive the day after the wedding.

There’s no way of knowing if they are the cause of the spread, but if they are then testing every day isn’t a successful strategy.

Although with case numbers at what they are, if you attend any gathering it’s inevitable there will be some infections.

I've seen that figure bandied about twice last week. One seemed to refer to both forms of contact, the other just to the app.

My wife is a teacher who has spent the last 16 or 17 months in school Monday to Friday surrounded by kids and they have had over 100 positive cases in that time. She didn't get it, wasn't contacted or advised by her school to isolate in all that time.

Then after finishing school last Friday, she and quite a few of her colleagues were 'pinged' on the Saturday morning telling them to isolate for 10 days. If it was just her I'd say she was unlucky. As it is about 20 other people she works with in the same position I'm a bit more sceptical. Its a complete and utter shambles. I told her not to bother and to take a test every day, which she has done (all negative) but she wanted to do the right thing. Her isolation finishes today.
Update: My wife has just received a message from the NHS saying that as she is a registered key worker she doesn’t need to isolate. 3 fücking hours before it was due to end! Couldn’t make it up 😆

I've removed the app having being pinged 2 days after my isolation ended after having had covid. I did contact Track and Trace and spoke to a very helpful lady who confirmed I should not be being told to isolate having just had covid.

Genuine question. What happens if you get pinged and you've already had covid? I'm still assuming you can't catch it again (time will tell)? Or can you still spread it?

The point being that I had covid back in April with frankly no effects other than being tired for 6-8 weeks. I work closely with people and going to the pub tonight. So chances are I'll get pinged at some point. Yet I've had it🤔

Don't get me wrong... I'd happily stay at home for 10 days. I'm sure the FMTTM 'doctors' can assist.

The app I'm talking about is the NHS track and trace app although they also contacted me via text. I'm not sure if there's a timescale been determined as to how long having Covid gives you protection for but I've also been double jabbed.

Still need to isolate, as shown by Johnson recently trying to worm out of it even though he's already had Covid.
