Pick your England Euro squad

Rice, Bellingham and Ward-Prowse fight for the holding role, since Henderson isn't fit, Dier only selected to cover CB/CDM.
Only selected 3 CFs because we don't ever play with more than 1. All different types, Kane all round, DCL power, Watkins pace and control
Most of the attacking midfielders and wide players in the squad.

I think our weaknesses are CB and CM, but as Bellingham gets more experience and maybe a couple of CBs emerge, we've got a very exciting squad.

I picked this, but I don't expect Wan-Bissaka, Keane or Ward-Prowse to make the final squad.

I'd only have Phillips there as back up if Rice gets injured.

Not as easy as I thought it was going to be. GS is going to have to leave some really good players out. Especially if he insists on playing Phillips.

Not in my squad - Lingard, Ward-Prowse, Dier, Phillips, Saka, James, Trippier.

exactly. He'll get pelters whoever he picks.

I even picked Dier (despite him not really being good enough) just so that I could have cover at CB and cover in midfield, but allow me to pick Sancho and Maddison as further attacking options

I don't think Sterling is worth a place based on current form and I'd replace him with Rashford, I'd also take Lingard ahead of Maddison. Bellingham has to be included based on what I saw of him yesterday.

oh carp, I missed Rashford, agreed ahead of Sterling

Lingard, not sure he fits the England shape, even though he is playing well, Id leave him out.

Goalkeepers - Pickford, Pope, Henderson

Defenders - Walker, TAA, Maguire, Stones, Mings, Coady, Shaw, Chilwell

Midfielders - Rice, Henderson, Ward-Prowse, Foden, Sterling, Mount, Sancho, Lingard, Grealish

Rashford, Kane, Calvert-Lewin

As above, except I would put Maddison in, instead of Sancho or Sterling 👍🏻

Mings isn't even Villa's best English CB let alone good enough for England IMO.

Konsa is who I would take.

How Dier gets in anyone's team is incredible. Barely gets a game for Spurs, and whenever he does, he's very poor.

Just because he's versatile and can play in 2 or 3 positions, doesn't justify taking him.

It's simple, take 2 for every position and 3 keepers.

I agree he isn't very good, but he's a better CB than playing someone out of position. If you take 4 CBs and 4 CM, you usually will only use 3 of them, but you do need that 4th option. Taking Dier, however limited he is, means you cover 4th choice CB and 4th choice CM in one go, giving you another attacking option.....but I totally get what you say about Dier, I've never particularly rated him.

TAA is definitely the sticky one in this - I've put him because if we're playing 3 at the back I'd stick Walker within that 3 like in 2018. I see his future TAA as midfield in a 3 and could double in both positions.

I honestly think there is one really controversial player he will miss out it always happens every year - I've put Grealish in but seriously doubting as to whether Gareth will.

Kalvin Phillips is in but please don't play him with Rice in the same starting XI especially if we're playing 3 at the back.

One of the most seriously contested spots in the starting XI has to be the goalkeeper, no chopping and changing like a Jones and Turnbull scenario - just make the call and keep the faith.

I hope there is a system that gets Mount, Lingard and Foden in the starting XI because they're on fire.

I notice most of you are excluding Bellingham, I think he has to go. I'd even consider starting him alongside Rice and Mount with Grealish, Foden and Kane up front.

Can't see any way Maddison goes. His antics last weekend have ruined his chances. I also think if we play Walker in a back three we are bang in trouble against the top teams. He will get caught out.

When I picked my team previously I went with Rice, Mount and Foden as my 3 central midfielders. This also opened the door for the likes of Sterling, Grealish and Sancho to be shoehorned into the side in the wide positions.

Foden has been outstanding however playing wide left for City, so in a way I feel he has to start there at the Euros.

Issue is who do we go for in midfield? Mount and Rice would be definite starters for me, possibly with Henderson as the third midfielder but I know he's struggled for form this season and is currently injured.

Maybe Bellingham could be the answer but I haven't seen enough of him to make a proper judgement.

If one was judging Bellingham’s performance last night as a passport to the squad then you have to look at Saka tonight for Arsenal and equally say he has to make the squad.

Exactly.

I won't pretend I've watched Bellingham at Dortmund all season, so he may be ripping up trees in the league, but 2 good games isn't enough for a 17 year old to go to the Euros for me.

Saka was in the last squad and pulled out through injury.
