Photographs from John O'Rourke's personal scrapbook.

I posted these yesterday morning on Erimus74's thread about hat tricks, but thought to post them again today for the weekday crew who probably did not see them. I took them from John's scrapbooks when I interviewed him in 2006.

I had never seen before or since the full squad photograph with all the directors and chairman, as well as a number of young players who never made it to the first team who I have never heard of.

It was not taken pre-season as squad photographs normally are, because Willie Whigham is there, and he apparently came down on the train from Scotland and met the squad on the morning of his debut at Watford on October 8th 1966.

Anyway, a few of the old hands on here will enjoy the memories of this fine player.

There's an error on the caption for the team photo. It names only two players between George Wright and Peter Wilson when there are three. Can anyone help?

Huge error by Stan Anderson letting O'Rourke go. It ultimately led to him resigning after going close so many times. I'm certain we'd have gone up before 1973/4 if we'd hung on to him.

Quality thanks Picto_leng, some excellent photos there, yes Willie Whigham was met at Darlington station by Stan Anderson & club captain Gordon John

@Picto_Leng, I think I have that MSS you have taken the write up from, it was a great magazine

John O'Rourke scored a brace on his Boro debut in a 3-2 away win at Colchester United, only our 2nd ever visit to Layer Road & both within 12 months

JO'R was the 81st different Boro player to score on his debut & the 8th player to score two
